Saw the light
Powerbook G4 1.5ghz 17" :D

About every major model since 85, perhaps 2 dozen. I even had the dreaded 6300CD, an eMate, a 5300 Powerbook, and my model M00001 still works perfectly.
My new G5 with 2GB ram, the upgraded card, and dual 250GB drives should be here today or Monday.
Ah, Apple. Where would I have gone without you? (Probably more time to work on my golf game)

at work:

(1) 9500 180/mp (2000) (I checked and I was wrong with the other model I did put here)
(2) got replaced with G4 500/MP (2002)
and then I quit there when they ordered the first 2X1.8Ghz G5

at home

(1)(feb2002)2nd hand Performa 5200 75Mhz, 2GB, 40Mb ram, cd-rom, i wanted to use it for MP3's but it was too slow
(oktober2002)gave the 5200 to a friend who wanted to use it for old mac games...
(2)(november2002)2nd hand B&W G3 300 768Mb ram 2x20GB internal drive new 48x cd-rw replaced the original drive + new external 80GB HD
(3)(march2003)2nd hand Ti-PB G4 400 1GB ram 20GB internal DVD-rom + new 52x external cd-rw
(dec2003)->sold B&W & got a new 30GB 3d gen iPod instead (B&W was only used for iTunes since I got the PB)

(jan2004)started my own photostudio so home changes to work ;-)

(4)(jan2004)2nd hand Classic received from a friend
(march2004)Ti-PB got stolen
(5)(april2004)bought a new 2X1.8 GHZ G5, 1,5GB ram, 160 sata, SuperDrive
(april2004)Sold the external 52x cd-rw
(6)(june2004)received a 2nd hand iMac DV 400, 64mb ram, 10GB HD, 24x cd-rom
(7)(june2004)received a 2nd hand Clamshell LimeGreen iBook SE 366, 128mb ram, 24x cd-rom (poweradaptor is broken, awaiting the replacement)
(june2004)selling the iMac on eBay now since I just want the iBook as harddrive/monitor for checking my digital images when needed on location. G5 delivers the speed I need ;-)

future??

when buisness goes well -> selling the iBook and getting a 12"PB or iBook (depending on funds and specs at the time I need it)

as you can see I bought mostly 2nd hand in the beginning, I didn't had the funds for a new one, but I wanted to switch to apple since I used it at work and my P2 450 sucked big time!!
it's a pity they stole the Ti-book, but my G5 is much smoother at doing things with Large files...

Making computers that last 6 years, crazy.

my b&w gave me 5 years of 24/7 service. just sold it. has at least 2-3 more years use left I would say. the b&w was one of the most stable products apple ever made.

Yeah, I always used Mac's cuz they were what was available / used by others on specific projects until I bought my iBook G4. My heaviest Mac use before the G4 was that pair of IIci's that we wrote our newspaper on. They weren't mine but I probably used them more than any of my own computers since my Amiga. ;)

OS X was the first time I really *wanted* a Mac, and there wasn't such a convenient opportunity to buy an OS X Mac between the initial release and just now. So I had been using PCs and sorta forgot about it. Then I saw Panther and iLife and my decision became a lot easier.

So far, I've not seen anyone mention the Lisa. I've never owned anything but apple:

-Lisa (borrowed from my Dad's office)
-Apple II
-Original Mac (128k)
-Mac SE
-Mac SE 20
-Powerbook 5300
-Pismo (400 Mhz) (current 'book, but not for long - I think it's about time to upgrade to a 15 inch PB)

Yeah, it seems like since Apple started making multimedia applications for us average and wantabe professional users, an evolution or revolution is in the making in terms of computer usage.

I've always been drawn to the style of Apple computers, even before I recognized they were Apple. I remember going to a campus bookstore back in 1990 to buy a computer. I don't think I really knew anything about computers back then--in terms of Mac vs. PC. I just grafitated toward the then Mac Classic because it looked better.

When the second version of iMovie came out, that simple application took me to another level of computer use. No longer just using the computer to produce light weight newsletters and fliers. Now I could produce edited vidoes.

Since then, I've been wanting to learn as many multimedia applications as I can. OS X certaintly compliments media creations--with its look, style, and functionality. Being able to have 5 or 6 carbonized and cocoa applications opened at the same time and actually importing/exporting and exchanging files between them. That's all awsome. Has made me not even look back at Classic.

It's going to be interesting to see what's coming. I get frustrated at times with computer bugs and the cost of that comes with updating stuff, but in the long run it's worth it.
