I am planning to buy iPad by December end, should I buy the new iPad Mini 4 or wait for iPad Air 3 (which would have better specs than iPad mini 4). Please advice.

In your shoes, I would get either the iPad Air 2 or the iPad mini 4 now, depending on which screen size you like better. Sure something even better might come in the future, but if you wait you'll miss out on getting to use a fine device between now and then.

I kinda like the 7 inch screen size is quite good for me. Maybe I will wait till December, anyhow it's going to be a while before Apple decides to launch the new iPad series in my country of residence (India). Thanks for the advice.

Initial impressions:

- Can't believe people needed to be told the colors are better. They're noticeably improved over the mini 2 and 3. It's not even close.

- Feels lighter but doesn't feel much thinner

- My mini 2 stutters quite often in some games and also when double tapping home to see what's open. Sadly, my Mini 4 exhibits the same issues. I might return it because of this. A new iPad shouldn't be struggling right out of the gate

- the audio is more tinny on the 4 but is louder. I prefer it this way

- the anti glare coating is a fingerprint magnet. Scrolling on a white background really demonstrates what an ugly issue this is. My mini 2 never had this issue.

I have a month to decide if I want to keep it, but performance issues are making me lean towards returning it.

I own both; iPad Air 2 and Mini 4. I really wanted a Mini all along, but last year got an unbeatable deal on an Air 2 (64gb for $250, brand new) and the Minis still had poor screens, so I bought the Air 2.

Now that I have the Mini I always wanted, the Air 2 will go to my wife. But you have to understand -- I truly wanted a Mini.

I really don't see the Air and Mini as interchangeable. Very different form factors.

If you don't care about size and weight, then ignore the Minis completely. Get an Air, or even a Pro if you're interested in a big screen. If you do want a small, light tablet that runs iOS, then get the Mini 4 -- it's simply the best at what it does right now.

What games? I haven't noticed this. Also, even on my Air 2 with iOS 9 installed I'm seeing occasional stutters in the UI.

Crossy Road actually runs better on my iPod touch than on my Mini 4, where the traffic constantly drops the frame rate.

Really? I'll have to try that. Maybe the game just needs an update. Anyway, I believe you. Still love my Mini 4 though.

EDIT: Yep, you're right. Well, that's disappointing. Doesn't seem like a terribly demanding game graphically. I would post feedback to the devs in a review or email. May just need an update for iOS 9. What iOS version is on your Touch?

EDIT 2: I just emailed a report to the devs. I've got to think the Mini 4 is capable of running this game smoothly.

iOS 9.1 on my mini 2 runs this without a hitch. My Mini 4 refuses to grab 9.1. My Touch is also 9.0.
