Just chatted to Apple support and, strangely, she said that they are doing things differently this year and, if you opted into monthly installments, you have already completed the order and that's why your pre-order shows an expired; in other words, nothing to be done now and should be getting an order number (an actual phone) within 24h, before pre-orders even go online

bit of a strange one, I've been told I don't need to go now and complete pre order tomorrow, because it has already been processed...
I'd totally ignore that, sounds like utter rubbish to me!

I got the same but I’m sure it’s just a glitch or apple has intentionally disabled it. So on pre-order day, it’s just a simple click. I’m sure it will be back up but it’s not like it will auto order your order on pre-order day. We have to physically click on the button lol.

Yeah I reckon they have disabled the pre-order process to sort the mess out. If this new process has already maxed out with available stock then there’s going to be a lot of disappointed people tomorrow

On the Apple Store app is anyone seeing this message after pre-approval/pre-reserving their iPhone?
The exact error is: “Your iPhone preorder has expired.”
But when I go in the app (and I have a confirmation email and everything saying I was approved), it shows my device under preorders and on the “For You” tab, it shows my iPhone is ready for preorder on the 17th.

Anyone else getting this error when checking their pre-approved iPhone order? Hopefully just a bug.

edit: When I check my order on Apple’s website, it shows my preorder there. So it’s likely a bug on the Apple Store App, I assume.

Quick call to Apple would clear this up I guess…

FWIW, mine failed at the step where it checked loan eligibility, and I know it’s not my credit availability. Then realized I have all my credit reports locked, lol. Unlocked and will try again.

It is 0935EST here and the pre-pre order process has gone smoothly on my desktop Safari.

It even offers to add a Calendar event, which I accepted. Two clicks later and it was done and I set an alert lol.
