I take it that most Windows keyboards don't play nice with OS X?

Most do but sometimes you get unexpected results. Like Insert key does something completly differnt and the windows key works like the command key. Mac Only Keyboards have differnt printing on it.

I am using the MS Ergonomic 4000 Natural at the moment. What I want in a keyboard:
  • Wired or wireless without lag/interference and very long battery life
  • Split or curved
  • Low Profile switch keys (laptop/mbp style)
  • mac layout preferably
  • preferably compact laptop layout for arrows for arrows/home/end/pageup+down/insert/etc so the numpad doesn't compete with the mousing area or on the left so it isn't in the way of the mouse
  • no useless empty borders/sides with far away useless media keys like ms/logitech love to stick all over the place
  • no non-standard key layouts
  • flat and reverse tilt, not forward

I thought something like this might be the case. I guess it might be worth while having a Windows keyboard for back-up incase one needed to use Bootcamp (never Vista though!).

I prefer the old IBM keyboard, see picture. It's the best keyboard ever made, never found better 'typing' keyboard and it's so easy to clean because you can remove the keypads.

Haha, we used to have one of those! Saddly, at work, we still use those! All of our computer terminals at work use these, along with 5 year old PCs (it's a school, so things don't get updated too frequently). Ironically, the student computers (in the same room!!!!) are brand new:rolleyes:

If you know a way to connect it to MacBook Pro or Mac Pro don't hesitate to share (under OSX).

Actually, if you go to FRYS, you can find a small USB to serial adapter. My dad had insisted on keeping an old mouse that he had fallen in love with, so that little thing was a must have for him. As I recall, it was only $8 or something, and it includes two serials combined into one USB (so you can have both an older keyboard and mouse:)). Mind you, the old IBM keyboard that we had is long gone:( It was a good keyboard.
