"Christmas pudding" WTF is that? (what sort of translation was given to the british when they made "fruit cake"?) It's like a big thick turd cake.

I can't eat most cherry flavoured things because it reminds me of cough syrup. ("I hate cough syrup, don't you?")

No joke, I was reading this thread, and about 3 secs before I read your post "Christmas Pudding" popped in my head. I had it at my friends house a few years ago, and it was quite possibly the worst tasting thing I have ever ate! :) I choked down the entire serving, so as not to be rude to his parents, but I wasn't happy about it. :) They asked if I wanted seconds, LOL I think not.

I agree every time I east anything cherry flavored, all I can think is caught syrup. Yuck!

Christmas pudding is quite, quite ace. Tomatoes on the other hand are – as I've said before – the fruit of the devil. Fine in sauces and stuff I grant you, but in their natural tomatoey form? Bloody awful.

I also really don't like mushrooms. Nasty taste, awful texture, and what you're eating is mould by another name. Bleh.

Pesto. I can't stand the smell or taste, especially if it's been warmed up in the microwave the smell is just overpowering to me.

It tends to be texture that puts me off food more than the taste.

Agreed. I'm not allergic to mushrooms (at least, I don't think I am), I don't mind the flavor of mushrooms, and I can eat mushroom 'flavored' foods, and even food will miniscule pieces of mushrooms. But the second a near bare mushroom of significant size touches my tongue, I gag.

I'm sure it's entirely mental along with the porous texture of a mushroom, but I won't mind going the rest of my life without them.

Asparagus. Can't eat it period. The smell alone is enough to make me queasy, eating it makes me throw up.

There are a lot of foods I don't care for, but I can eat all of them except for asparagus.

It's worse here in the UK, imagine that at like super-strength and density. I was not as polite as you, I ate one bite and vowed never to touch the turd cake again. However the in-laws didn't mind, they looked on curiously for approval/disapproval from the little Californian girl their son imported who was about to taste their strange British Christmas Pudding and smiled amusingly when I looked repulsed and shook my head "no". :D

Watermelon

Yup, watermelon. Can't stand it. A popular summertime snack, bit it always made my stomach turn. :( It made for a strange childhood.

The funny thing is I like basically any other kind of melon including muskmelons (what people call cantaloupe but isn't) and especially honeydews. Go figure.

I was always glad I had a chance to try calamari before I knew what it was or I probably would've never eaten it. :D

^ yeah ok, that is a bit odd. :p watermelon rules! it's like the mark of summer!

I'm not a huge fan of it, but I have heard the salty stuff is the bollocks.

That would be salmiak. I had some when I lived in Denmark. Lots of salt and ammonia. Definitely an acquired taste.

I hate cheese. All kinds. The smell of it makes me retch. Particularly runny goats cheese (Norwegian goats cheese looks like snot) and parmesan. Who wants to eat spaghetti bolognese that smells like an open drain? Blergh!

Strangely enough, I like fake cheese flavouring - such as crisps or Crawford's Cheddar biscuits. Very moreish. Chemicals ftw!

C&R Cafe at Rupert Court (just near Chinatown).

It's not flash - just a good quality small restaurant/cafe with some great food. The roti canai is superb - a really great hint of anaise in the sauce. Laksa is good, nasai lamak is great. I eat there quite often :D

They have a second restaurant now in Bayswater (I haven't been to it). I think the owner now hangs out there. The owner is really friendly - told me up front that I wouldn't like that bean dish, and offered me something else for free if I didn't like it. Too proud to take him up on his offer though!

Thanks very much - I'll give it a whirl.

If it's crap I'll blame you, obviously ;) :D

Cucumber, it tastes of nothing to me, it's horrid.
btw, nice to see a very newly created thread doing so well, people really hate alot of food :D

Peas. I hate peas.
That's okay 'cause I love 'em. ;)

Hm, I can't think of much that will make me have a gag reflex on the spot.

Tequila (from a really bad experience)
Papaya
Mayo
Butter*

Yes, I realize butter is used in a ton of other foods and dishes and I don't mind it so much when it's not the only freaking thing I smell or taste. *retch* But some patisseries and bakeries? *gag* I walk in then walk right out. I just can't stand that overwhelming buttery smell. *eye twitch*

You know what makes me sick now and I used to love as a kid? Well, I used to take sticks of Imperial Margarine and eat them like popsicles.

I shudder to think about the amount of saturated fat in those things now. The thought of eating a whole stick of margarine makes me queezy....

Tomatoes! Yuck

I don't mind cooked tomatoes, or tomato sauce, but raw tomatoes are absolutely disgusting. Even the smell of them when I am cutting them up makes me sick. Yuck!

I also do not like liquorice (I like the red stuff) it is gross!

Funny, after being accidentally exposed to tomato yesterday I was thinking of starting a thread just like this one.

Anyway, I'd quite literally rather die than eat a fresh/raw tomato. I simply can't think of anything that disgusts me more. I won't touch or handle them either.

There are plenty of other things I find disgusting, including sea bugs (lobsters, crabs, etc) and most other seafood, but nothing is so bad as tomatoes.

Im similar with the butter, if its melted or there is something else them most of the time I dont mind, but therwise I throw up.

And butter and jam? WTF?

ANYTHING containing cilantro. I can taste even the smallest amount and it almost activates my gag reflex.

Gin does the same thing as well, it tastes like Pine Sol to me and I have tried it again and again. Never developed a taste for it but I do looooove Campari which everyone hates. :)

Haven't read the entire thread, but for those who don't like Sambuca and its liquorice flavour, it's actually aniseed. I don't like liquorice at all, but am fond of aniseed. Quite different tastes.

I detest seafood. Cod/Haddock/Mackerel/other basic fish I'm fine with. But absolutely nothing shelled, make my stomach turn. I guess it's odd then that I can eat bread crumbed Scampi, but that's only because I use to love it when I was younger, before I found out it was a Prawn. However I've just google'd it, and wow, I don't think I'll be eating it again. :(

Cilantro is in my top five flavors that I LOVE... lemon, almond, cilantro, chocolate, ginger, garlic. mmmmmm. You don't know what your missing :)
