Wife's Past Vehicle: 96 Nissan Maxima
Wife's Present Vehicle: 00 Ford Expedition
Wife's Future Vehicle: Whatever we can afford when the current one dies

We like Honda, Nissan, Toyota vehicles, but really it all comes down to what is in our budget when it comes time to purchase a new automobile. :)

Last: 2005 Subaru STi
Current: 2011 Ford Raptor
Next: 2015 Ford Raptor

I'll be buying a small hybrid for daily driving purposes but it won't be a car that I really want to drive so I'm not mentioning it on the list.

Last car (2000 - 2001) - mid '80s Honda City.... 265k km, and going well, but I moved abroad. Had a company supplied Kei class Honda in Japan, but cycled a lot.

Currently - no car; have supplemented my bicycle with a 100cc 1997 Honda Dream motorcycle since 2003..... 215K km and good for many more. I have rented a car on three occasions in the past decade.

Next car (if there is one) - Who knows? Something practical that fits my needs and budget.

The last car that was really my car was a 1996 Ford F-150 pickup. It got traded for a 1998 Dodge Caravan because my wife wanted a minivan (and we had just had our first child.) I then got her 1996 Chrysler Cirrus which I drove until 2006.

My current vehicle is a 2006 Nissan XTerra in Solar Yellow. So far it has been my favorite and at the same time least troublesome vehicle I've ever owned.

As for the next vehicle, it's my wife's turn for a new one since she's been driving the same Dodge Grand Caravan since 2001. We've been giving some consideration to a Nissan Quest, Honda Odyssey, or possibly another Dodge Grand Caravan. the practicality of a minivan is really hard to argue against at the moment. She's also expressed some interest in other Nissans such as a Murano, Armada and Pathfinder, so there might be hope for something different.

My next new vehicle won't happen until 2016 at the earliest, so it is too soon for me to speculate.

List your last car, your current car, and the car you're planning to buy in the future!

Mine:

Last Car: 2008 Audi A4
Current Car: 2013 Acura TSX
Future Car: Something with a V8

Last Car: Honda Civic 1998 model
Current Car: Honda Civic VTI-S 2005 model
Future Car: Honda CRV 2013

Past and present, something that uses gasoline. Mostly drove Toyota sedans.

Future, a Tesla.

Full Disclosure, I am holding a long position in TSLA.

Past: 2009 Porsche Cayman S

Present: 2013 Nissan GT-R

Future: 1995 Nissan Maxima

Past car was a 1997 Tahoe.
Current a 1999 Jimmy. Both 4wd.
Future, probably another Tahoe.
Those are daily drivers/towing.
The hot rod is a 1993 Firebird Formula LT1, Pacesetter polished headers, SLP Loudmouth exhaust, OE Wheels C5 wheels, BMR suspension parts.
Last hot rod was a 1985 Monte Carlo SS Pro Streeter, all Chassis Engineering back half, 355 sbc, TH400with brake, 9" rear with 4.86 gears.

Past: 1999 Hyundai Accent (Purchased new outright.)
Current: 2004 Toyota Prius (160K miles, still getting >40 MPG.)
Future: Tesla Model X (waiting for second generation, unless current car gives out first.)

The Hyundai was only sold (along with my wife's 1994 Ford Explorer,) when we inherited her mom's 1998 Subaru Forester in 2006, which we decided could replace both (and we didn't really need three cars.) Otherwise, I'm a "keep it until it dies" kind of car owner.

Past/Current: MINI Countryman S All 4 / 2015 C300 4Matic (Picking it up tomorrow, replacing the MINI)

Future: Tesla - Test drove a P85D and fell in love with it, but not the price.

My first car was an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7. It was purchased 2 years old w/30k miles in 2005 when I got my drivers license. It served me well for 8 years and in the end had 150,000 miles.

I then recieved my dads 2009 BMW 535i x-drive in 2013 and now have about 90,000 miles on it it. I was graduating and the Jeep just was not reliable.

I hope within the next year to afford a Volkswagen Toaureg TDI or Jesp Grand Cherokee Limited/Overland EcoDiesel.

What's been your experience with Subaru. I've heard that they are great cars and that their owners can be quite passionate about them. In fact I've heard people compare Subaru folks to Apple folks on more than one occasion. :)

It's been good. Crashed it (at medium/low speeds) in to a barrier a couple years ago (black ice is nasty, mm'kay? And all wheel drive does *NOT* let you magically drive on anything!) Minor dents, but no major damage. (Hell, we *still* haven't repaired the car.)

VERY recently (last couple months,) we're getting occasional knock sensor triggers, but it hasn't caused a noticable change in the performance of the car.

This is my second Subaru (I owned a Subaru Justy in college,) and I've been happy with both. Not "passionate zealot" level, but certainly enough that I would seriously consider Subarus again in the future.

Edit: It also helps that when we inherited this Subaru, it was already 8 years old, yet only had 20,000 miles on it! (And was in near-perfect condition. It was the "absolutely every single option that could be ordered from the factory *EXCEPT* automatic transmission" model, so it's a great car.)
