This is how it went for me as well. I placed my order on 6/15 at about 5am EST, immediately got the Order confirmation. A few hours later I got the porting confirmation and just this morning, I got this email.

I am glad I found this thread...I was curious about this as well.
 
I apparently placed an AT&T order that I didn't know went through around 11:30am on the 15th. No confirmation email or anything, so I managed to get an order in through Apple later in the day. I looked up my number's order status the morning of the 16th, and it showed it in there with a date of the 16th. When I called Customer Support to see if I could cancel, she was able to look up the order and saw that it went through around 4:00am on the morning of the 16th, and she had a note that any orders that were processed after 4:30pm on June 15th would be probably arrive between the 25th-29th. Just last night we got the email from the original post.

I'm now on hold with their online department, to see if I can cancel the order, since the Apple order is going to show up on the 24th. I don't want to have to deal with refusing delivery or sending it back.

I have a 0 under Backordered. I only had a 1 under Backordered briefly early yesterday morning. Since then it's been 0.

Fyi I received the "Message" you cited around 8:30 pm EST last night. A separate "Message" for each phone I ordered (note I placed one, single order for new family plan service with 2 phones). I received my order confirmation immediately after ordering on 6/15 at about 5:15pm EST.
 
0 under backorder for me. I wouldn't read too much into this email. I think it was sent because some of us never got a confirmation email. They probably sent it to everyone though or will when they finish sending them out.
 
Ordered at around 8:00 am eastern on the 15th, and just received the Your Recent Online AT&T Order email just now.

Interestingly, I never got a confirmation page (the submission appeared to time out), nor a confirmation e-mail, but I could check the status of my order and my eligibility changed about 10-15 minutes after I orderd at 8:15 am on the 15th.

When I checked status at 8:30 am, I showed 1 for backordered column; checking status now, it shows 0 (there is a 1 in the # ordered column and 0's in the shipped and backordered columns).

I assume I'm good for the 24th, but won't fret too much if it's delayed a bit, either.

I just got the same conf email. I ordered mine tues at 630am and didnt even know the order went through because the page never loaded after i clicked accept terms and place order.

Just checked, no backorder

I think you're probably right. Anything they can do to tame some of the phone traffic.
 
My husband and I both ordered our phones on the 15th and we both got the exact same email today. It kind of has me worried that there's no mention of a delivery date just a vague "we're processing your purchase in the order which it was received."

Same here: I ordered at 5:30EST on tuesday and I just received both confirm emails at 10:22am today 6/17. i could always see them using the order status checker.

Cart timed out
Received 1st conf. email
Number port emails
Order status shows 0 under Backordered (after initially showing 1 early on 6/16)
Pending charges on credit card for $398
Number port stats shows Confirmed

I've gotten two emails one was the confirmation email I got immediately after preordering 2 iphone 4s and the other email was one saying there was a problem porting my number (When I called there was no problem)...

Oh and 0 backordered for both my phones
 
ctn number

mine from at&t has "shipped" expecting it to arrive on the 24th.
but i was wondering.. i choose for a new phone number. and the CTN number starts with my area code and cell code. So can i be safe to assume that it is my new number?
