Youtube App on IOS 14 beta 5 is using microphone when just browsing subscriptions

Just noticed that YouTube is also using my microphone. Not when using voice search but all the time.

I’m on 13.6.1, and I got ‘Youtube wants to use the microphone’ yesterday after updating the youtube app.

I allowed access for YouTube but the mic was permanently on. It was not just like it was using it for voice search but it was on the whole entire time is was on youtube whether it was watching a video or scrolling threw home. I do thank Apple a lot for adding the dot to see when the mic is being used.

I don’t allow YouTube to use my microphone. There’s no reason for it to, so I don’t have this issue.

Don’t forget Google owns and operates YouTube. It would be better to view YouTube with Safari or Duck without using the app.

It asked me too. Just in case anyone doesn’t now how to disallow it if you’ve accidentally given it permission, you can find a toggle switch in Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
