thats great .. but now youtubes going to be flooded with mostly useless videos either demonstrating the 3Gs video feature, following their cat around the house, or something else.
uploading directly from mobile = not that good quality, cant really be edited
i dont know.

is anyone really surprised by that????

take the hottest phone on the market add the ability to take video with it then let them upload directly to youtube with no requirement of a PC?

its a pretty obivous outcome!!

great. just what we need. millions of more videos of teenage girls singing, cats playing and toddlers throwing things. great.

And annoying "daily bloggers" are now going to have the ability to go mobile. :(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHB5M9-yDac

So, someone's holding a gun to your head, making you go to those sites?

oh sweet another iphone article. macrumors never posts about the iphone

When's the last time Apple's done anything newsworthy that wasn't iPhone/iPod related?

Pro users have become Apple's retarded cousins that don't get talked about.

Yesssss, just what the internet needs: more homemade cat videos!!!!!

Unless you're searching for "homemade cat videos", how could this possibly impact you?

Nah, it's pretty much been like that since they've had HD videos. Youtube is becoming crap now. .. You know something is wrong when it takes 5 minutes to load a 2 minute video..
If you watch the normal quality videos, Youtube works just fine. It is only slow if you insist on watching the HD videos. So, let me get this: Youtube didn't have HD before, then they add HD as an option and you have to wait longer for it load because it is an optional higher quality .. and now people complain? Sheesh! They should just remove the HD option and everyone will stop complaining then.

Isn't that maybe why AT&T isn't ready with MMS and tethering? People on these forums talk as if AT&T/Apple are behind with some of this stuff, but what if everything was available right now? Wouldn't AT&T's network come crashing down?

I believe the answer to your question lies here:

No, of course not! AT&T is spending the money you pay them monthly to keep those pipes wide open and data flowing! Damn, I just LOVE that company!

I think AT&T is finally now realizing that a public backlash is beginning to build steam. Especially, after the Apple WWDC, when Apple made it obvious that AT&T was their limiting factor in innovation and progress. People are complaining more and more, and I'm sure AT&T is reading this stuff. If AT&T doesn't directly read it, journalists often quote forums these days and it will get to AT&T that way. Eventually the backlash will become great enough that AT&T will begin to spend more money on the network if they want to prevent a critical mass of negative news and backlash on their lack of service. Personally, I have not seen a decrease in AT&T's network quality. I bought my iPhone3G back in August and since then AT&T has added millions of more iPhones and the network speed has ... okay, it has slowed slightly, it's noticeable but still small. I think if AT&T had not been continuously upgrading, then the network would be significantly slower. But it's not, which means they are doing something. Perhaps, not enough though. Hopefully, this will change as a result of WWDC and the public outcry. We will see. Apple's website says "MMS coming to AT&T by end the end of summer," and I'm hoping that this time AT&T will be ready. The biggest challenge: The iPhone 3GS can send video in MMS (example is on Apple's website).

Wow, how did we get so lucky?

5 iPhone stories in a row. Can we go for 6? Not sure if people using the ability to take video and upload it to YT as page 1 news, but I guess someone felt it warrant. :apple:

I'll be asking for several iPod Touch stories when the newest version comes out.

Let's hope they (YouTube/Apple) fix the problem with the black bars even when filmed in landscape. Apple said the phone filmed in widescreen... doesn't look like it uploads in true widescreen...

Otherwise, it's a great feature. I think if and when Apple implement more advanced editing feature into the iPhone software (effects, splitting, etc), it will make it better!

From the comments, I assume that it works via 3G? So AT&T banned the Sling apps, saying users cannot stream/sling videos.

How is that the user's fault? AT&T should invest in making their network stronger.

The thing is, at this point, AT&T could afford to take a slight loss in expanding their network via upgraded towers and more towers in general. With the iPhone's sales and thus more contracted users, they'd make that money back by the time the next iPhone comes out in a year, just in time for even MORE subscribers.

At least that's what I'd look into, if I ran AT&T. Invest now for the future, especially if you plan on keeping your exclusive agreement!

Why is everyone assuming that AT&T isn't spending a lot of money upgrading their network? Just because the result aren't instant doesn't mean the effort isn't there.

I mark all articles on the iPhone "negative" on principle. They need to start another site, "iPod Rumors" and leave us Mac fans to ourselves.

I think this could be interesting. Someone already mentioned the videos we saw from Iran but remember when the plane went into the Hudson River and the first photo of it came from an iPhone (http://twitpic.com/135xa).

Things like this are changing the way we get information. When a major event happens, before the news crews can even get there we will already have footage on YouTube.

Yes there will be more crappy videos but there will also be more important or interesting videos as well.

Brilliant - 400% more garbage that people will never watch.

So if it will lead only to 400% rise of (mobile!) upload and will not affect downloads at all, they can even put all this stuff on tapes and save on disk upgrades.
