Apple needs to just update the app....in the mean time, I will be using the mobile site

Apple YouTube app is doing the "correct" thing by respecting the GMS recommendation for bit rate 3G video. When using the app over WiFi you get the full quality. The problem is that people don't care about these specs and the 3G infrastructure today can handle the higher quality.
I've just disabled the Apple app and put a shortcut to the mobile site on my home page.
There is very little reason for Apple to bother upgrading the app at this point. The web interface works very well. However what Apple does need to do, is provide a better way to remove the pre-installed apps.

-Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I just found out about the restrictions and love the seamless experience for HQ videos.

I did a test and even when disabling the YouTube app the quality over 3G still looks crap, so why does it matter?

Who here prefers the youtube mobile website to the native app??

I usually use the native app...but am starting to like the mobile site a lot more lately.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks??

Over 3G I like the web site better. If you plan on watching videos, you have fast enough data that the site runs fine and you have the option for full quality over 3G.
It works even better if you remove the native YouTube app through the built in restrictions. This way email and other links open on the web UI instead of the native app.
If you are using wifi, it doesn't matter as much if you are using the app or the web site since the video quality is the same. However the web UI still offers more options.

I prefer the Mobile app, the quality is definitely better over 3G and the mobile site gives you more options overall.
