So much misinformation and subjectivity in this post that there is no point arguing.

Have you had a LED Macbook Pro matte? Well they pwn the PowerBooks in terms of color and screen quality.

Your argument is your 4 year old Powerbook's matte display is worse than modern day LED screens. Yes you are right.

Also color richness and clarity is the same on Matte, clearly don't understand the difference. It's the same display, except you get slightly less brightness and a lot of reflections using gloss. There has been numerous tests to show that Gloss at 100% brightness is the same brightness as Matte at 90% brightness.

My brother has the older 15" Macbook Pro in matte. I have the 13" Macbook Pro. I also live within 15 minutes from 5 Apple stores which I frequent along with attending this years Macworld in San Francisco which introduced the new 17" Macbook Pro in matte. Don't say nonsense like my post is full of misinformation. I speak from experience. I am not at all making up stuff based on this video. Even so, the quality of that video is good enough to give people an idea how matte is for the most part. Interesting I don't see any of you naysayers complaining that the video is misrepresenting the reality of the glossy screen.

Excuse me, but are you now saying that the OP is lying when he has both the matte and the glossy Macbook Pro's? He saying right in the video that the matte appears washed out and he even tried to calibrate the screen, which you shouldn't have to do if the matte is such a superior screen. :p

What's the point in arguing over a screen? It's personal preference. People like what they like, so just don't listen to anyone else and go out there and buy whatever makes you happy.

weights of glossy vs anti-glare MBP

Hey, what can you say about the weight of the MBP with anti-glare display vs the MBP with original glossy display?

Those who swapped out the glossy display in MBP through services such as Techrestore have indicated a small reduction in weight (something like from 5.5lb to 5.2lb) due to removal of the glass sheet on the display.

So I am curious in knowing whether the anti-glare MBP show a demonstrable weight reduction as I am interested in lightest possible weight for MBP. If there is a weight reduction, it would be a nice benefit of anti-glare MBP.

well damn...i thought he was referring to the "glossy" for appearing washed out compared to the matte. maybe i heard wrong (working 11 days straight in a hospital...doesn't help).

all i know is that i want a 17" mbp now...since the size and weight difference really isnt that far apart. but, glossy or matte is going to keep haunting me because my only resources are those online. ugh...:(

Because people are angry Apple forced them into buying highly reflective displays or forking out top dollar on the 17" matte.

Yes but there still is no point in making pointless arguments on some website that go absolutely nowhere and get nothing done progressively. This is ESPECIALLY true because it had been beaten to death with the flame-stick.

It is merely personal preference and that is that.

I'm liking the silver bezel on the matte. Nice. Now  just give us a white or silver keyboard option and I'll even happier. Consumer choice = rocks :D
