I’m not talking about Safari I’m talking about edge. You’re confused
You didn’t mention in your post that you were talking about Edge. How would anyone possibly guess, on a Mac forum no less, that you would be using Edge, a browser which has only 5% market share and virtually zero percent market share on Mac?

Anybody else now getting hammered with "sign in to prove you're not a bot" requests?

Probably unhappy about private relay, but I don't have an account and won't create one just for this. I think someone at Alphabet is committed to squeezing more money out of the YouTube turnip and raising subscription pricing was only part of that plan.

I am pretty much full time using tubemax and Unwatched Video Player, more than likely will remove Tubemax as it has app tracking and needs you to login with your google account for the YouTube subscriptions whereas Unwatched imports it from takeout.

Both are though very good in their own ways. Yattee is an excellent app but Google is breaking invidious and piped so much as to make using the app now pointless.

I watch mostly on Apple TV, so that is not really an option. And the sites are getting better and better at circumventing the ad blockers on PC browsers, which turns it into a perpetual game of offense vs. defense.
This is a big reason full HTPCs are still relevant over TV boxes. It’s not just YouTube but other sites as well.

It’s also why I don’t need a “smart” TV as the majority of the time I’ll be watching from something externally connected like my laptop.

I have YouTube premium running for quite a while now with the old VPN + Turkey (family plan) method but I know at some point this will all come crashing down, hate YouTube Music and only got it cause equally hate adverts.

The thought of paying £25.99 to block adverts for my family and I (we all use Tidal for music) is not something I would ever consider paying.

Sadly no where near enough people will cancel to make Google stand up and notice and I predict the family plan will rise to £29.99 by 2026, cause hey we all need AI in every google product!

Unwatched RSS Video Player is working very well for me and worked out the kinks (if you enable iCloud sync it does not pull down the latest Youtube video’s)
