brave does not have YT ad blocker for ipad. Tried may - nothing worked.

Adblocker for my TV already skips there in video ads. No issues there.
You don’t need separate ad blocker for brave. It’s an option that you can enable or disable in the browser app. I haven’t seen a single you tube ad on my iPad for over couple of years.

Again?!
Once they start injecting the ads into the videos themselves, something they are currently trialing, it'll be interesting to see if the ad-blocking community can defeat that.
Personally I pay for YT Premium but in-video ads (Sponsor Blocks) are PITA right now.

So to skip can use SponsorBlock which I use for few weeks already:
Asking for subs, boring parts... all skippable
Fully recommending!

Edit:
In case of error about missing "safari-web-extension..."
Run first:
sudo xcode-select --switch /Applications/Xcode.app
then when in Terminal on level of folder "SafariExtension"
xcrun safari-web-extension-converter SafariExtension

There’s pretty much a 0% chance they will raise the fees paid to content creators in the same way. There’s your screwee, right there.

”Legal”? New level of entitlement achieved 🥳 The rate in India is already nearly double what you pay in a western nation when you take average income into account. You want them to pay 10x what you pay just to make you feel better? Well done, I never thought people would go this far but you proved me wrong.

Entitlement? It's discrimination. People shouldn't be paying 10 times more for the same product just because they earn more money.

I'm never going to pay these crazy prices when someone from India pays only $2 for the same product.

they cracked down on the VPN turkey/argentina trick a few months ago it seems.

Still dont understand why they dont make YouTube Music a separate entity - I dont use it and I don't want it but I'm forced to pay for it as part of Premium.
Probably because few would ever subscribe to YouTube music on its own. Based on usage, I doubt YouTube premium would get any cheaper even if sold separately from Youtube Premium. It's just one more way of making the deal appear sweeter than it really is. It did get me to drop my Apple One subscription, and Youtube Music is functional, but I don't really enjoy it (chiefly due to the lack of shortcut integration, the clunkier interface and third party cover songs ruining my Siri commands).

Google has won the adblock war. It's over boys.
I saw an advert for Google AI (Gemini) on tv the other day.

"Gemini, watch this video for me and give me a summary."

I wonder if it can do the following?

"Gemini, play this YouTube video and strip out all the adverts for me."

I watch mostly on Apple TV, so that is not really an option. And the sites are getting better and better at circumventing the ad blockers on PC browsers, which turns it into a perpetual game of offense vs. defense.

Set Up Pi-hole on Your Mac Mini

Pi-hole is a network-wide ad blocker that can be installed on any device running Linux, including a Mac Mini. It functions as a DNS server that blocks ads before they reach your devices.

ask ChatGPT to give you all the codes and steps.

It would be nice if YouTube invested more in YouTube Music. The value of my YT Premium family plan would be much higher if I used their music service, but every time I check it out it's still rubbish. A shame, because mixing YouTube vids seamlessly into playlists is great, as is the ability to show music videos for tracks that have one.

I'm of two minds here. YouTube would never work without heavy monetization - the volume of data uploaded daily, the bandwidth used to stream video to all users, the storage costs, it all adds up very quickly at that scale.

I personally pay for Premium and have no problem with it. It's the single streaming service I use most. It's worth the money to me.

On the other side of the coin, it's hard to feel bad for YouTube, the company that comfortably lives under the Alphabet umbrella, the 5th most valuable company on the planet. It's impossible to believe that they cannot afford to maintain YouTube.

Because it basically has no value they can reliably charge for

But when they throw it in they get to seem like they are adding a ton of value to the sub... when really people just want to skip ADs on YouTube

not on all of them. you do that frequent enough, you'll get a 2/2 ad for 15/30secs each.
Hasn’t happened to me. YouTube literally is 44 percent t of my battery usage followed by TikTok.

I spent an 9 hour flights watching true crime docs and after five seconds I was still able to skip. The frequency was annoying but I have never watched an advert for longer than 5 seconds unless it was a movie and that’s because I choose to watch it

The problem is YouTube has near monopoly on video online thats because everyone chooses to use it. People should be taught to diverse their online uploads. Then again, people want to post videos where people will actually watch them and nearly all people are on YouTube. If its not on YouTube, it doesn't exist for them.

Chicken and egg problem

There is a FREE option to watch Youtube without ads:Brave Browser.

I have been using it for over 3 years now on the Mac and iPad, and I have zero ads.
