Are these companies trying to help launch Apple TV+?
I actually watch most shows I like in the CW app free. The best thing about becoming a cord cutter in 2008 was that I watched TV less because there wasn't regular streaming TV available. After using DirecTV Now for about a year or so after launch, I realized I didn't miss it, especially after the price increase. Switched to AT&T Watch TV so my wife can watch a few shows she enjoys and it's only $15/mo. If that starts to go up as well by a lot then I'm out. Cancelled Hulu a while back. For me Netflix and free YouTube is about enough. Might get ad-free YouTube if they unbundle it from their stupid music service for cheaper. I'll probably sign up for the Disney/Fox service and be done unless Apple's TV service doesn't cost much to add to a family Apple Music plan (like $5/mo extra).
Wow, thanks for the tip! Looks perfect for me... in the convenient position of not giving a piss about sports. There’s also Philo, no sports (!), for $16. Has Food Network.
Not knocking you, but only the naive thought these services were going to compete to offer either lower pricing, content choice, or some combination of the two. This was always going to be the case of "appearance of choice" or "appearance of competition". Content providers just ended up with more bidders for their products, driving the prices higher. Higher prices for content means higher costs for services which means higher prices for end users. It was never going to be anything other than what we have now. The next thing is going to be the consolidation phase where the failed services are acquired by the successful. Bringing it back to a few providers. Reminiscent of the telecom break up... or the oil industry break up.I thought these services were suppose to compete with cable no longer the case with these prices
Youtube is going to further integrate their services so getting a separate cheaper ad-free unbundle is highly unlikely. Nobody in this thing is going cheaper. Not Youtube, not Netflix, definitely not Apple. With all the licensing and content purchasing Apple ain't gonna cut you any breaks.Might get ad-free YouTube if they unbundle it from their stupid music service for cheaper. And I agree... there's no point to cord cutting anymore.

My wife is all about that Food TV and all the ridiculous cooking shows and competitions. Sometimes we watch a little bit of news when something crazy is going down. I hardly ever touch the service myself.I actually watch most shows I like in the CW app free.
I just wish I had purchased their ad-free tier before they bundled it because I think it's probably grandfathered. But yeah, if there are no deals like that then I just won't bother. I'm willing to pay a premium for Disney because of all the IPs they own and all the content that is applicable to both myself, my wife, and our children. Even more so if it includes their Fox acquisition, which it surely will.Youtube is going to further integrate their services so getting a separate cheaper ad-free unbundle is highly unlikely. I have Netflix 4k UHD (gf pays for it), Hulu (comes "free" with Spotify), Tubi (free), Prime ("free" with Amazon Prime), Pluto (Free), and Sony Crackle (free). The only other service I'm pretty sure I'll add is Disney+. I think I'm going great price wise.I wonder at what point people will start to realize that they pay more for these piecemeal streaming services than for cable. If you are just interested in one streaming service, like Netflix or Hulu, it's not that bad. However, I know people who have Hulu, Sling, Amazon Prime, and Netflix. It definitely adds up.
It’s $16 now, or $13 if you don’t want 4K.And yesterday everyone was whining about Netflix being $12
