Before long, it won't just be easier to stick with cable, it will be cheaper. There is just no point in paying almost-cable prices, and then jump through hoops to get all the channels you want and be able to record. In the end, we need to have an on-demand service, and you pay by the hour for whatever content you want from whatever source it comes. No bundled channels, just everything available and pay as you go. Watch nothing this month, pay nothing. Watch 200 hours of content, pay for it.

I just wish I had purchased their ad-free tier before they bundled it because I think it's probably grandfathered. But yeah, if there are no deals like that then I just won't bother. I'm willing to pay a premium for Disney because of all the IPs they own and all the content that is applicable to both myself, my wife, and our children. Even more so if it includes their Fox acquisition, which it surely will.

The thing that drives me crazy about the Netflix price increase, even though it isn't much, is that I already don't have enough time in the day to watch what I want to watch on Netflix, and yet their excuse for raising prices is so that they can make more content for me. Wish I could just say no thanks and keep the current level of content. Oh well.
Afaik, YT's ad-free tier was always $10 for single, $15 for family. They threw in Google Play Music (GPM) for free. I originally got GPM family and ad-free YT was free once it got intro'd about 6 months later. There was never a discount for buying one or the other. If you want ad-free YT I say just get it. There's nothing that says you have to use GPM. You'd literally never have to download the app. Both my girls use it on their iPhones. It's a pretty good service + it got me ad-free YT so I ain't gonna knock it.

Netflix? They're between a rock and a hard place. They can't afford to stand pat and not acquire/create new content. Everything is exclusive to a certain service now. Sub to multiple services or miss out. But hey, it's what we wanted right?

It’s $16 now, or $13 if you don’t want 4K.
I downgraded from 4K (HDR) because it was simply too dark to watch, even on my brand new Samsung TV and Netflix wouldn't allow you to change the resolution otherwise. Now I get all the shows in HD and they're all watchable plus I'm saving a couple bucks.

I thought these services were suppose to compete with cable no longer the case with these prices

We were looking at 'cutting the cord' of u-verse, and started looking at what apps and subscriptions he'd need to be able to get near to what we had. After going through and finding all the apps, and looking at their prices, it was cheaper to stay with u-verse! OUCH!

$49,99 a month is ridiculous. To get practical everything down here in The Netherlands you pay almost 50% less !!

Besides the fact that YouTube is really really broadcasting very very bad tv series; seen a few with a free monthly account.

If Apple will ask the same prize for its Apple TV down here in the EU then it will be a flop.
I think €9,99 is reasonable with 6 family account members able to watch separate and €13,99 for 4K content.

Article Link: YouTube TV Increases Price to $49.99/Month, $54.99/Month When Billed Through Apple[/QUOTE]

Isn't it insane what they think their crapola programming is worth, especially since it's still the same old bundles of channels cable sells (most of which you'll never watch) and it's riddled with annoying ads AND they're scraping your data to boot. They manage to squeeze a couple of revenue streams into garbage programming packages ... what a deal!

For what its worth, YouTube still saves us about $40-50 per month.

We chose YouTube TV mostly because they had all the sports channels that we wanted. The area in which we live only offers Charter/Spectrum for cable and internet so we can't exactly shop around for better prices. I can easily see how having a few streaming services plus broadband cable would be about the same or more than having a cable package.

It's getting freakishly close to cable costs but for me the contracts, added fees/taxes and gear associated with them still makes it a deal breaker. At least with streaming I can spend literally one minute to change my lineups, remove a service, etc. it's far more liberating than being tied down like that.

I signed up when the service was $35.
Just got notified that in May my monthly charge will jump up to $50!
Lame! What happened to keeping 35 for being an early adopter?
YouTube Tv is way better than the competition due to its easy to use interface and unlimited DVR. $50 is getting into bundled cable/internet territory.

At this point the deal is in the fact you can do 6 accounts per household. Split the cost among users. If they take that away, welp...

I thought at some point they offered a cheaper discount for EDU or something at like $5/mo (I work in higher ed). But the current one is still $2/mo more expensive. Probably still worth my time wasted as I only watch videos from what I'm subscribed to each day and not much else so it's not like I would be spending the time saved on ads watching more videos very often. I hate the idea of paying Google money but at the same time they're probably making just as much off ads so whatever. I just hate adding new monthly subscriptions because that's part of how I keep my budget so lean.

And with that, I am tapping out. I officially cancelled by subscription effective May 4th. I paid for the package this month and will probably get it back on in the fall when the NFL comes back around, but I am not dealing with this ridiculousness.

So here is the perspective of a recent former Direct TV Now customer and is a little rant. After Direct TV raised my rates again, I realized I cut the cord for a reason, because I thought that paying through the nose for TV was lunacy for channels I don't even really watch. I subscribed early to Direct TV Now with HBO, because I wanted HBO and for the extra $35 (really $25) per month, it was worth it to have TV also. But like cable companies before them, streaming services have now made their pricing on par with Cable TV, what's more is that these providers bare NONE of the delivery cost as that is presumably through your cable/ Internet provider.

Thanks but no thanks, I have cut the cord again and will not use any of these 'streaming services'. If the mood strikes me I will get cable for what I want to watch, otherwise Netflix and Hulu (not streaming) are perfectly fine for my viewing needs. I still have HBO as I enjoy it, but HBO Now. For mindless watching, Pluto TV does just fine. The streaming services were a great idea, but now they are charging too much for it to be worth it to me.

I refuse to add subs unless they come with something more substantial. I subbed to Google Play Music family and got YT for everyone as well. I got Amazon Prime Video just cuz I use Prime (too much actually:(). The cable companies in my area have to compete so I don't have an exorbitant bill.

edit: I do have one singular subscription: XBox Game Pass. Considering a single game + season pass can run $100 or more... Game Pass easily pays it's weight.

Anyone paying $5 more just because they signed through apple should tap out, it's absolutely ridiculous. Not sure how it works but couldn't one drop it through Apple and the just sing up again directly or are you locked in?

This is utter BS. It would be different if they made the new channels an add on fee, but to charge everyone is just rubbish. That means this will have gone up $15 bucks a month for what I was paying to begin with every single month for channels I don’t even watch. That is ridiculous. Why should I pay more for things I won’t use? Why do I have to subsidize and incur that expense for other people’s entertainment? I want my same channels at my same price...PERIOD. I could maybe have accepted a $5 increase to give extra channels to everyone even though I don’t watch them, but not $15. That is a bridge too far.

As the price starts being just the same as cable their service becomes more irrelevant and they will price themselves right out of the market. Which is really stupid. This is a cruel and somewhat delayed April fools joke.

For someone that’s never had cable, Hulu with Live TV is perfect for what I watch. A couple shows here and there during the week when I’m even home, nothing usually on the weekends.

No boxes (besides the Apple TV I already had), no wires, no installation.

Not even that, I think I don't pay more than about €15 for my 70+ channels, pay €55 for Tv-Gb internet and a landline which I don't use but was cheaper to include,(Got a better deal with it)

I signed up when the service was $35.

They sell you air, Online DVR is just a joke, the content is already on their servers, there's nothing to record, in other words, it's a SCAM.

That means YouTube TV has now grown to over 70 channels. The base price of the service also includes 6 accounts per household, a cloud DVR with no storage space limits, 3 concurrent streams, and local affiliate coverage in over 90 percent of the markets where YouTube TV is available (which is now all U.S. markets).

Biggest Scam ever, there's no recording, it's already on their servers, should be free.
