I think Canada just has youtube premium which only removes ads and lets you play in the background on mobile devices for $11.99 a month. This and YouTube TV seem like complete ripoffs. I'll just sit through ads or reduce my youtube consumption. These subscriptions keep adding up and up. Choose wisely my friends.

Just install ad blocker. No ads :)

At this price point, what’s the appeal of this service over cable?
Besides unlimited DVR there Isn’t much. I tested out with a friend for the last two month. I gotta tell you, I don’t recalled seeing so much ads in my life. I’m paid him through July but I’m cancelling after. At $65, for channels I barely watch and all that ads? Whoever is running the program at Google doesn’t know what they are doing.

They're going down the same exact road as the cable companies. Add more channels, hike prices. Add more channels, hike prices, rinse, repeat.

I'm canceling my subscription. I canceled cable because I was paying a fortune for channels I never watch, and now YouTube TV wants me to pay a fortune for channels I'll never watch.

Buh, bye!
^^This...being a streaming service, they should offer lesser packs like choose 15 channels of your choice for $20/mo or something. I watch about 10 different channels at most.

I was going to cancel until I saw they’re adding all the Viacom channels. Now it’s as expensive as AT&T TV, but comparable lineup. YouTube and YouTube TV do work very well on my Sony Android TV.

I still think PS VUE was by far the best cable replacement service, was disappointed that was shutdown.

always blows my mind how much you guys have to pay for TV in the US. I pay 50 Euro for internet and the complete SKY HD package combined

Most Europeans don't realize that basic TV in America is still free and advertiser supported with an antenna.
The current method, ATSC 1.0 is not particularly good for most people indoors but that is about to change.

The number of Cable TV cord cutters is also growing. Next Generation TV / ATSC 3.0 is launching with even more free channels in the coming year, some of which will be free on your cell phone too. Apple doesn't seem very interested so far, but I'll bet one of the cell phone manufacturers jumps in very soon to offer free live TV with no cell phone or internet charges.

America will also finally get live broadcast of sports in 4K for free (except for the initial cost of the tuner/TV).
