"Pricing & Availability
Apple TV, which includes the Apple Remote, is available through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers for a suggested retail price of $299 (US). Apple TV with a 160GB hard drive will be available tomorrow for a suggested retail price of $399 (US). The YouTube feature for Apple TV will be available as a free software update in mid-June."

Pah, thats not news, I already have a 160gb AppleTV :)

I don't understand the appeal of that at all. Why wouldn't you just stream the content from your mac? I don't even have syncing turned on on my apple tv. I guess if you were taking it with you somewhere, but you would need more than 40 gigs on a trip?

If you only have a G network and a weak signal you might not want to rely on it. Plus, regardless of how reliable streaming is, people (especially early adopters) want top-of-the-line specs, and while 160GB isn't terribly big, it's a lot closer than 40GB.

I thought you could not order or download movies etc. from the internet using AppleTV. So this new thing with Youtube, do you still have to first go on your computer and download it, then get it from the AppleTV? if so, that's too much work for such silly things.

And if you can download directly from AppleTV, when will we be able to download directly from the iTunes store?

No, you'll download directly from youtube, just like you download movie trailers now.

and i don't think you'll ever purchase music off the apple tv, it makes sense to go to my iMac first, then it syncs to my iPod and AppleTV.

It would be a pain to have to sync my iPod to the AppleTV too.

Not if the next iPod has wireless syncing :)

I guess you'd still only be able to sync from one place, unless lots of devices can sync together wirelessly.

Actually, that would be pretty cool, I could sync iTunes from mt iMac to my MacBook...:)

Im just waiting on the iPhone integration (as a remote/secondary information etc)...

iPhone soon?

So, if you can watch YouTube videos on your AppleTV,

and YouTube is owned by Google,

and Google is making applets for the iPhone,

it stands to reason that eventually,

YouTube will be supported on the iPhone.

Right?

It should be...iPhone supports the internet, which Youtube is on...

I find it odd that some Google things (like Google docs) don't work in Safari...

I like your logic! :D ;)

This does seem like a logical extension though... all in good time...

Screw YouTube! When are we going to have PornoTube integration? If there's anything that needs to be navigated simply, quickly, and with one hand, it's PornoTube.

Another good call by Apple. I rarely go to YouTube on my computer, but I use it more often than I ever thought I would on my Nintendo Wii. Video watching just seems so much more practical when you're lounging on the couch.

No, I meant ordering tv shows and movies directly from the AppleTV. That's what would be slick.

Soothsayer Says, "We Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!"

I like your logic! :D ;)

I called this Apple TV and YouTube connection quite awhile ago. I'm no soothsayer, but we will have YouTube on our iPhones. You can count on that.

Now here is the next step... [Maybe someone can figure it out for me.]

It really cannot be long until someone is able to create a program that sends live TV through YouTube to our iPhones. It would seem that YouTube can lower the bandwith, and our iPhones could handle that video. We could watch live TV with perhaps only the slightest delay. Seems very plausible and probable to me.

Our iPhones will be able to send video back (using YouTube) to our computer or Apple TV giving us video iChat capabilities.

Finally, and this is the best part I believe, we will be able to use Leopard to share our computer screen on our iPhone. No need retrieve documents or sync, because we will be able to access our computer screen from our iPhone.

This is REVOLUTIONARY.

or perhaps I have totally lost it....

Some one explain how this really could happen. I want to believe it can.:D

Wow, YouTube and Hi Def mentioned in the same article. Two polar opposites. How YouTube wont look anything other than shocking on a tv is a miracle yet to be seen! But it looks like we shall see...something.

It seems people like it on their Wii consoles...

Look at Apple's conundrum: content providers still balking at allowing high-def content on iTunes. So, how do you make STANDARD def look good on a big TV?

Easy: you put up sub-SD YouTube videos for comparison, and all of a sudden, watching standard def is like being there :)

Seriously though, some people do like YouTube despite the quality. You can tell them they shouldn't accept 320x240 compressed into a bleary mess, but they do. So it's a nice feature to add.
