I miss the old YouTube. At some point they felt the heat from IG and TikTok, and today it’s filled with clickbait nonsense.
YouTube's been filled with clickbait and wannabe influencer junk for close to a decade now.... way before TikTok even got started. Everyone's trying to make a quick buck through YouTube.

Google: “I know I promised to be good and let you down yet again with stadia, and I know I didn’t keep my promise with almost anything else, but please baby I promise I’ve changed! Please baby please come back! If you really love me you’ll try out my new thing. What do you mean, ‘no’? Well you are nothing without me anyway!”

Last week I got tired of it all and deleted my entire YouTube account.

What was that great YT Channel you loved and saved it to your favorites?? Oh nevermind :)

No, and I didn’t know this before either, but you can delete just your YouTube content:

Kinda, but youtube still tracks you just the same and knows exactly who you are. I have NEVER made a youtube account, but sometimes I get popups where it knows my name because I use gmail.

Essentially we all have youtube accounts, it's just a matter of whether or not we have chosen a screename to use for the service.

I would argue that the click baiting is more on the content creator’s turf… that said, most likely YouTube settings do promote the more clickbait-y ones because they know that’s what the average person will most likely gravitate towards to, making it also the viewer’s fault and completing the triangle of guilt: everyone is on it.

If you dislike it that much, then you might not be “the average person”. I know I’m not either… I cringe and twist at the ads, at the titles, at the TVs on the house listened loud by family members serving garbage after garbage.
Since it’s always about “buy this, eat that, feel bad about this, donate to that because it’s sad and bad, check this useless tv show”. So on and so forth, it has been there forever and it continues on in full force with the internet bait versions of it all.

That said, the gaming part, I’m curious how that works for developing for that… kinda don’t mind sending clickbait games if that’s what people actually want and enjoy.
