The vulnerability lies within the stage fright itself, within Android. Yes, your Textra app might be patched, but the vulnerability affects any app that uses the media pre-load feature.
Oh, and thats ONE known vulnerability, where Google dragged its feet to even update the Nexus lineup (and the OEMs only gave lip service). Who knows what else is out there.
However, it's your choice. If you don't mind micro managing patches here and there, or dwelve in custom ROMs to get the best "support," by all means. I don't have time for that anymore, and after going through numerous Android devices, I have enough. Do I like iPhone 100%? NO! But the way Google and the OEMs behave forced me to reconsider going back to iOS.

Big Eye Roll...geez.

Because a jailbroken iPhone is way more fun. :)

I hate the Android ecosystem, it doesn't play nicely with my Mac or my other iOS devices. No iMessage, Facetime, iCloud, Apple Music (yet)...no thanks. But a stock iOS device also gets boring pretty quick.

While I was hoping to be tempted by the 6s line...

I am now on Android and not tempted to go to iPhone until next year. I was excited and hopeful too. :(

Yesterday I did a test with my S6 Edge. I charged it overnight to 100%, used it all day without charging again and ended up at 37% when I went to bed. That is about a typical number I would end up with the iPhone and I would tell you that the performance is on par but I cannot, the S6 is better!

Why? Because I used the S6 more than I have ever used my iPhone 6. Due to the screen being so nice, I find myself using it more and not needing to switch to another device or computer to do some tasks. Since it is still new to me, I did some other things with it yesterday in streaming videos to my Samsung TV's extending the workload. Not long mind you, just testing but DLNA streaming is so fast compared to going through wireless.

Much emphasis is put on battery life when comparing the iPhone with other devices. While it is important, the display you stare at all day is VERY important and the S6 shines at this, not mention the camera and sheer speed.

I've had an S4, I know the pitfalls people talk about when they mention Android Devices but this Edge is a keeper. There is no way I could go back to an iPhone now, way too many benefits. If you are not wrapped up in the Apple Eco-system and are looking for a new device, give the Edge a hard look.

I agree with you...to an extent. Personally, I dislike majority of Samsung phones because of touchwiz. I did try the edge. Gorgeous device but the edges bugged me. I agree, I keep trying to want to go back to iPhone but feeling more cons than pros :(

Looking forward to Nexus devices at end of the month for Project Fi. I was going to go back to iPhone but the 6s wasn't compelling enough. Even offering 32gb memory as a new base would have made me happy!

Curious about the battery drain reports with 3d touch too

If you did not see the keynote (
), Apple says iOS 9 is available on September 16 at 2:00:8 mark.
If you've got 4s and up, you bet your ass that you will get that new update on the 16th!

Android 6 supposed to be released this fall. All I gotta say is, good effing luck getting that update, sure as hell you ain't gonna get it on the same day when Google releases it! (even if you have a Nexus device. believe me, I used to own one).

I was toying with getting the S6 edge (Nicer look), but wanted to get some real world hands on reports of battery/lagging issues reported, and compare them with the iPhone 6s. I only use a little texting, some GPS, Camera, Email, Weather, Talking on phone, little YouTube some days, and some Internet research, but no gaming or Movies. My iPhone 5s gave me days not hours of battery life, no lagging at all, and was very happy with it. I'm not a power user, so could you tell me if your usage is about the same or not ?

I have always stuck with Apple, but my last 6 months, I have been using Samsung's Galaxy s6 Edge. I switched due to having numerous bad customer service at my local apple store. I noticed that I used my phone less frequently (literally only for calling and texting), and I texted RARELY (due to the fact that everyone I know uses iMessage). I kept getting crashes and random lags where the screen won't even light up unless I rebooted it. I got so sick and tired of it, I couldn't even wait for 12 months to pay my installments, I decided to pay off the remaining 6 months, and upgraded. Never again will I go with android.

My usage is much heavier. I do not game on phones, just not my thing but I talk daily, text and email immensely, and visit websites all day long. I am also into fantasy sports so my use on those apps and sites is close to stalker ;)

I just don't see that as a concern for me. If an OS works, the phone works. Security is important but I've never seen any real world issues that were not addressed. Let's not forget that Apple had their own issues with that odd text message that could bring the phone to a halt just a while ago.

Apple changing the OS every year forces older phones to slow down, almost forcing the user to upgrade to new hardware. Not a coincidence. Not to mention them breaking things every time. I'll give them credit, they fix it in the incremental update that follows but do they really need to make it so iOS cannot see my non-airplay devices EVERY major upgrade. That is not a mistake, it is purposeful.

You can't go wrong with iPhone, I've had every version to date but just like iPhone did, other phones are starting to break out of the pack. If you didn't give iPhone a chance in the beginning, you'd still be using a Nokia or Motorola.

I see no reason to not look elsewhere other than a familiar comfort zone, and their is nothing wrong with that! but if you are willing to go outside of that zone, you'll find some great devices.

Got to say, after the disappointment that is iOS 9 the temptation to sell my 6 128gb and buy an Xperia Z5 is growing by the day. That camera is just soooo lush then there's the battery life.

I alternate between Apple & Android every year. When I switched carriers, I decided to give up my 6 & for an Edge. It seduced me with it's enticing looks. I will be moving right back over to Apple with the 6s+. I can't take the Edge's lagging with just about everything, overheating, inability to hold a charge, etc.

Ive been android for years (no iphone since the 3GS) and go through several android phones a year.

This year, the manufacturers of android devices have failed to put out anything interesting... And they seem to be suffering pretty poor SoC's in all the latest releases.

I lost faith in Samsung long ago. Hardware wise, they always seem so promising, but their touchwiz ruins everything. 4gb of ram and the fastest mobile processors available and still they lag like hell, and over time the slow down is unbearable. I really like nexus devices, but recently I've grown bored of the poor build quality and battery life.

Anything away from Samsung or nexus devices is like throwing money down a well, there is no re sale value. Even Samsung and the nexus line don't come close to Apple here.

I'm about done with all of androids customisation - at least for now. I still love android, but for now I fancy an apple flavoured change.

Overall, the 1 thing that makes Apple a viable alternative to android for me now, is how deeply integrated googles services have become with iOS. If it weren't for Google, I couldn't buy apples awesome hardware. All my contacts are automatically synced across just by adding my google account. My 20 - 30 thousand photos all stored for free in Google photos are all right here and still automatically back up, and I've still got my google maps navigation. These are the things that have made a hardcore android user happy to make the switch

My first and only smartphone is my 4S. For the past two or three years I would look seriously at Android alternatives, either for the larger screen before the iPhone 6 came out or simply to save money with a more moderately-priced phone.

I've been thinking about the 2015 version of the Moto X, which seems like it's going to be a very good phone, especially considering its value. If a 64 GB model is $499, that would put it 2/3 the cost of a 64 GB iPhone 6S if Apple's prices remain the same. $250 is a pretty substantial savings in my budget.

Still, I have about decided to get the 6S instead. I plan to keep the phone for at least four years, so the higher price seems less a factor over the long haul. The way that the iPhone works seamlessly with my iPad and MBP, however, is the primary factor that keeps me from buying a Moto X.

Anyone else? Or perhaps you've gone with an Android and haven't looked back. I'm interested in any perspective.

Not switching over because
How much is a Life Time of FREE Technical Support worth?
If you have any software/OS/Interface issue a year from now, who and where do you go and ask? A salesman at Best Buy, online at Amazon? ...... Good luck!
Would anyone allow their Tech Support guy to spend half an hour or more with you every time you go there? Only Apple would.

I 100% know where you're coming from, 2 to 3 years ago I was fully emerged in the apple eco system but they have slowly been loosing me due to the product updates they are rolling out. When it comes to smartphones I recently went to android and haven't looked back. I was holding out for the iPhone 6s but then when the announcement came and they said the starting device would still have 16gb I said bye bye. I moved over to my G S6 and have zero issues and have no interest in moving back.

As for your choice with the moto x the price vs what you get is really good, just keep your expectations that in regard to software updates they will be slow to hit your device. One of the biggest disadvantages will be the phone lifecycle I think with the moto x you'd be looking at around 3 years instead of 4.

When I opened the box of my first iPhone in 2007, I immediately understood it. For better or worse, that has remained basically true for every iPhone I have purchased since, which includes every single version.

When I picked up the first Android based phone in a Best Buy in 2008 or 2009, I didn't get it. I didn't understand the arrow key. I got lost in apps. The interface and hardware was, and remains to this day, to me, unintuitive.

If the iPhone were a game, it would be tic tac toe. If an Android phone were a game, it would be Dungeons and Dragons.

I still had that same problem when I tried android a year or so ago. iOS has gotten more complicated, so not all features are intuitive, but on android even basic things were requiring me to search online to figure out how to do them.

I've stuck with iPhone because my life is too busy to fool with infinite options, infinite configurability.

I just need the darned thing to work and work well, and that is what the iPhone does.

iOS has been changed to include the most useful things we used to have to jail break to get. As far as I am concerned, Apple have done exactly what we needed.

:)

Because I hate inconsistent app icon size/shape. This bothers me to no end :)
