zagg is a great shield

Hi!

I purchased my Zagg invisable shield from a mobile phone shop in the UK. priced at around £15......how much are they in the US?

I was very nervous about installing this myself (the soloution application looked a bit tricky)! However the guy in the shop wouldn't do it as is needs to be done and the device left untouched for at least four hours according to him. So I put aside all my fears and tried it out before going to bed.......Results were great, actually better then great! I managed to do it fairly quickly and not a bubble in sight. Checked it in the morning and you cant even tell its on!

I would reccommend this product to anyone!

PS: be sure to check out you tube tutorials before you go ahead and apply!

Shops in the UK dont do the install (unless maybe some of the smaller independent phone accessory shops - although most of those have gone now)

The IS is quite forgiving for a first timer - it is soft and pliable so you can push out bubbles etc without damaging the screen protector - it has a kind of memory foam quality - it pops back into shape (within reason) - just dont apply to much of the spray - wet your fingertips and only mist the back of the IS.

I am using IS dry front and back and. Loving it so far. If you end up getting IS be sure to check out their 'how-to' videos on Zagging website!

It's not as pretty as the "naked" screen when your iPhone is off, but when I turn on my iPhone, I can't tell that it's on. That was the main thing for me, is that it shouldn't affect the sharpness of the retina display.

I went ahead and put a bumper on around mine which I think will also protect the edges of the Zagg from getting dirt around it, etc. I don't like it as much as a clean glass iPhone, but with all the active stuff I do in a hot and dusty region, I'd rather have it protected and not come up with random scratches.

I have the same install as you and like it. The bumper will keep the edge of the skin from getting caught and rolled back while slipping the phone in a pocket. I think it is the best of both worlds - case-like protection and it is more like a naked iPhone4.

For those with the bumper and shield, does the bumper peel the shield off on the sides anywhere?

I got one for the screen and purchased a rocketfish case for a temporary solution and didn't put it on till the next day only to see some of the shield lifting up.

I was curious if the bumper has that same issue as well.

I have the shield installed with the bumper and the bumper keeps the edges of the IS from getting pulled. I think its the best combination out there. I think they were made for each other.

Do you guys like the matte finish on the back of the dry IS? I wonder why they made the back film matte finish. I prefer clear but am worried about using the wet install IS.

I put it on the back with no issues... it has a slight imperfection on the top.. I emailed Zagg and asked for a replacement.

I tried putting it on the front. Looked absolutely horrible. Took it off.

Just installed Zagg front and back...

Overall i'm pleased, it looks ok, obviously not fantastic but good enough. I have a couple of issues on the front side though...

Two pits seem to have appeared on the front, when you feel them you can feel the dips....they are only tiny, maybe 1mm, almost like the cover has been pierced with a pen/pencil tip....but they werent there when i applied it but have since appeared by themself over the last hour or two...the phone has been left untouched.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, did they go away?

Thanks.

I've used the IS on my 5th Gen iPod and now my iPhone 4. Personally, I did not apply the front protection for several reasons. First, based on the IS on my 5th Gen iPod, the material will yellow. Second, after using the iPhone for three years, w/o any protection, the amount of scratches on the from screen in minimal. Third, the coefficient of friction of the IS material is higher, something I welcome on the back but hate on the front.

Each to their own - for me the 'winning combination' is an Apple Bumper + IS on the back for typical use and an OtterBox for when I'm traveling.

Oh, and if you will be using an OtterBox in the future, from my experience, the membrane on the box likes to stick to the the IS material. Almost damaged my iPod and OtterBox because the click-wheel (w/ IS) did not want to release from the clear membrane of the otterbox. .
