are the featured magazines free?
You mean the daily featured article? If so then the answer is no. It's just a link to a featured article to promote the mag. I believe you can preview any mag the same way.
are the featured magazines free?
Wow.
Apple should buy them and integrate their technology into iBook; or develop a similar app. This is how I imagined using my iPad.
...disable the Startup video. Who knows if they will consider it or not.
I was thinking the same thing! The National Geographic, with all the extra media content, looks great on iPad.
So you want a blank or black splash screen while the App loads or do you want some other static image lie the Zinio logo? I don't see the big deal.![]()
Well? I'm not sure exactly but I would like to be able to disable it and have the App load a little quicker maybe. I agree it's not a big deal at all, i was more focused on having the option to disable it.
I REALLY wish I could delete the "complimentary" mags from my library.
x2
That is my only complaint so far. Everything else seems great. Love reading Business Week on it, even better that I got the subscription for free.
Is it still possible to get a free Zinio subscription to BW? If so, how?
Thanks in advance.
Check out the Fat Wallet link a few posts in the following thread. It may still work.

Send them an email from the address that your account is under and tell them what magazines you want removed from your library and they'll delete them.

I like the idea too but with Zinio's complete and total reliance on Adobe technologie do you really believe this could happen?
...Not sure what you mean by your reference to "this." To be honest, I really don't care what tools Zinio uses to develop their content for iPad. I am interested in the end product, and from the user experience perspective, they're really close to what I was hoping for. I am also impressed with how fast they improved their iPad app, as the initial version was quite handicapped.
1st the files are PDF and 2ed the Desktop version is (crash happy) Flash. Also it is available for a PC and Android phones. Can you really see Apple suppling a Flash dektop reader for a PC and supporting "evil" Android phones with content? It's highly unlikely that Apple would buy Zinio for these reasons alone.
I have been using the Zinio Reader for the last 3 years or so, and I personally didn't have any stability issues with their last full release (version 3). I have downloaded their Reader 4 beta, and (if you're referring to this release) I agree that it is not extremely stable at the moment.
As per your comment regarding the Flash, it is highly unlikely that Apple would build any type of application based on this technology. We'll see what Apple will do in terms of their magazine distribution. It would seem like a natural add-on to their bookstore. Only time will tell if Apple will resell digital magazines, and if they do, whether they will: 1) build their own distribution relationships and iTunes engine, or 2) acquire another party and integrate it into the iTunes ecosystem.
In the meantime, I am happily enjoying the magazines delivered to my MBP and iPad by Zinio.![]()
