Black Friday 2005 - Apple (and others) After Thanksgiving Sale

No. It's referring to a company 'moving into the black' which from what I understand refers to a color code that means profit (hazy memory due to late hour sorry).

Correct, red numbers mean they are in debt, black mean the company is in profit. And this day, the start of the 'shopping season' usually brings companies out of the red, and into the black.

Why are there several Frankfurt, Germany's?

Because there are?
Frankfurt/Main and Frankfurt/Oder
guess, you're looking for /Main..../Oder is somewhat east of Berlin at the polish border.

On topic: I know it's clear, but I have to ask anyway: No sale in the UK shop? :(

My geography is failing me. Is Frankfurt a city or a "State"?

I really have no idea - I would guess not.

Powermac Quad
$3,035.00

This is Govt pricing, now give me the 10% off that

$2,731.5

Now add tax

$2859.39 OUT THE DOOR!

Not bad. Waiting to see if it happens though.

Good guess! But you made me laugh anyway :D .
Main and Oder are rivers, quite important ones...just to let you know :)

Edit: Ooops, did you edit your post?

To be honest, I can't remember  It's 1 AM over here. - I don't think so though

Edit:
I was just wondering because when I type in Frankfurt, Germany into the weather widget, several Frankfurts come up with numbers following them. Is Frankfurt that big of a city that it needs several different forecasts?

Frankfurt/Main: 657,126 - 2,595 per sqkm
Frankfurt/Oder: 64,600 - 438 per sqkm

First one is relativley large for Germany. In Germany there are only three "over a million"-cities (Berlin, Munich, Hamburg)...as far as I know.

If you couldn't sleep, now you can...;)

Nothing like that here. (I wish) In ads they will either write " while supplies last." Today I saw one that said "15 store minimum." If it didn't say something along these lines, I think they would have to give us a "Rain check." (similar to your voucher)

Stores here also say "while supplies last", but that doesn't take away the customer's right to a voucher.

If they were to say "only 15 items", it might be enforceable.

WTF! No discounts on Pro Products!

OOOoooh someone's getting bitched at later this afternoon at the Apple Store!

wow, its only begun and im already scared. I went to compusa at like 12:15 and they opened at 12. It was mass chaos and I ended up leaving because they were already sold out of the speakers I wanted. Now I get to repeat all this again when I get up to go at 5, thats when it gets real crazy.

I was at a CompUSA too tonight. Hoooollleee crap! I can't describe it. People were taking 5 of the "1 per customer" items and sometimes were grabbing stuff that wasn't even on sale! I left... wasn't worth the $50 I'd save for a 3 hour wait in line.

Doesn't sound like it exists in the States, but here (Belgium) a store has to have enough stock of a promotion to service a "foreseeable" number of clients. If they don't have enough and the item is worth more than $30 (roughly), they have to give you a voucher that you can use to pick the item up for the same price when they do have it back in stock.
They can have just 5 on the shelf and that's all. Usually they have per-store minimums... but with 900 people swarming a store, they go fast.

Can someone tell the the difference between these graphics?

Yeah, the snow changes. And the weather is closer to the Low than the High currently.

Underwhelmed

Six Apple products discounted (five if you don't count .Mac). No iPod discounts. Looks like all 3rd-party accessories got cut, though. Definitely not worth a trip to the store.

Dammit. Why don't they have these sorta deals in Singapore?

I would have gotten another .Mac, a mighty mouse, a Shure E2C and an iSight.

ARGH!

The deals are disappointing. I was hoping for awesome prices for the new iPod or something like that. A discount on the Power Mac Quad would've been nice. Oh well, I still have a lot of shopping to do today. :D

Good luck to you all!

Anyway I clean forgot about this sale and missed it down here in Oz. Are Mac minis included in the bargain bin as well?

For all we know it might be yet another hint that Intel Mac Minis are near!

Only discounts on hardware?

I picked up two iSights, a Mighty Mouse, and two .Mac memberships. Not too bad a sale for me, but I was shopping for iSights.

I was surprised that there were not any discounts on software. Of all the things Apple can clearly discount without great loss, it is their software.

Here's the official price list :

iMac G5 $1198-1658

iBook G4 $898-1198

.Mac $68

Mighty Mouse $38

Airport Express $98

iSight $118

Sanyo Xacti C5 $498

JBL Creature Speakers $78

Bose QuietComfort 2 $299.95

Bose Companion 3 $249.95

Maxtor OneTouch II $198-268

iPod nano Lanyard Headphones $34

iPod nano Armband $24

Incase iPod Cases $14-24

Bose SoundDock $299.95

JBL OnStage and OnStage II $118-138

Shure Sound Isolating Earphones- $78-238

XtremeMac AirPlay- $48

Monster iCarPlay FM transmitter $58

Griffin SmartDeck $24

Does anyone else think "Black Friday" sounds kinda racist?

"Black" doesn't always have to mean racist. This is called racial over-sensitization, and it sucks!

If you did a lick of research, you'd learn that it's an accounting term. They use "black" ink to signify positive cash, and red ink to signify negative cash. "Black Friday", being a busy shopping day, is when many stores go into the "Black" for the first time this year.

Thank You, racism is a big problem but people just go over board:mad:

Posting from Apple Store Bethesda MD

at Montgomery Mall. The store is packed. This is the first time I've seen the nano and the ipod video in person-- they are unbelievable. People are buying ipods left and right. I'm going to have a hard time leaving without an ipod video myself-- they are much more impressive in person than on TV!
