I've been on the fence for awhile, about purchasing .mac. Doesn't seem to be worth $99. But for $68 I may give it a shot.

I'm thinking of buying my next year of service today rather than waiting till July when it expires. I will for sure be picking up an AirPort Express and maybe an XtremeMac car charger, too. :D

Me thinks Apple needs to work on those online discounts:

It's not like that for me. All the prices have the old one and the new one which is less than the old one.

iMac and iBook pricing you could get year round with educ disc. and 3rd party product pricing you could find at other online retailers....
I'm under whelmed:(

You said it best! But the apple fans will attack the fractional discounts anyways.

iPods ARE NOT on sale.

I believe the iBook is actually cheaper today than the regular EDU price. I think the normal EDU price is $949 (for the cheapest model), while today it's $899.

Well, I finally woke up. None of you woke me up so I assumed the deals were pathetic. You were right. Not a single good deal for me - I was looking in the area of an iPod.

At the Houston Galleria apple store there was a line at 7:15. It was four dudes. (I should have hung out with them)

Then, at 7:45 I came back, and the line was ~90(?) people long. FANTASTIC!
People were asking each other what was on sale.. of course I was the only person that actually knew what the prices were today. (I checked apple.com before I left.. hehe)

A passer-by thought there was a new OS release!

Hehe.. leopard out today! Haha!

Am I the only one who thinks the $100 on an iBook is a decent deal here? I mean what were you all expecting, 30% of an iPod? Apple's gonna sell millions of iPods anyways, they really don't need to put them on sale.

Amazon (and others) run $100-$250 rebates on ibook, pbook, imacs and powermacs all the time. Unless you need a BTO, one can always get a better deal not buying direct from Apple.

These deals today are nothing great. Interesting that iMacs and iBooks are the only ones on sale, maybe these will be the first to go intel?

Can still buy something today.

At least I can still get a good deal today somewhere without having to fight crowds at the mall. An Aunt gave me a zip lock bag full of $75 dollars worth of "$1 Best Buy Bucks" that expire 12/3/05 after thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I didn't really want them, but I couldn't say no to her. I was just going to throw them out, but then I saw they could be used online. I'm obviously not gonna go down to the store put the poor cashier through the tedium of counting them all. I'll spend them today if BestBuy.com stops crashing.
I'm sure there are rules about not being able to buy electronics hardware with them, but if that's the case I just buy a bunch of games, CDs, and DVDs. If it is possible I might use them to finally replace my aging CRT with an LCD for cheap. Or I could replace my aging printer. The only thing I really need is a pair of headphone to replace ones I broke a couple of weeks ago. I was going to buy a nice pro AKG studio monitoring pair, but I have settled for Sony MDR's in the past. Ooooooh, $75 off an iPod nano! What should I get?

yeah, I once had a jar of loose change, maybe $50 or so, and I didn't know what to do with it. I mean I wasn't going to take it to a store and spend it, was I? So I just throw it out. Wish I could have spent it online, that would have been cool.

These deals aren't very good. I wasn't expecting much anyway.

You're correct. And it may well have an impact on iPod sales. There are a bunch of WMA players available for almost nothing. This was maybe not the smartest move Apple has made. I know a few people that will settle for the 512MB Sandisk one for 40 bucks or a 2Gb Philips NAND player for 100 bucks. Yes, 'shuffle' and especially the 'nano' are nicer, looks better but guess what, aunts, uncles and the rest of te family may not take that too much in cosideration. Yeah, I know, I am expecting a lot of negative comments on this, and really love Apple (have a house full of Macs), but I just think they made a misstep at this one, not to have discounts on the iPods at all.

Just picked up a pair of Red JBL Creature 2.1 speakers for $84 out the door! Not so bad; just hope they sound better than current JBL Duets. Will go nicely with my eMac and White 30GB iPod Video! :D

Actually more

I just counted them and there is actually $81 dollars worth here. Some where $1 and a few were $3. The site is working, but you can't buy anything at the moment. And all the popular stuff is sold out at the moment (nano's, GameCubes, Gameboys, ect.). They're actually all out of 4 GB models in both colors. The do have both 2 GB colors instock but I really want the 4GB in black.

Sounds great

My hat's off to you. I've always wanted a pair of Creatures. And red look at you making stylish statement.

Cripes! It's an iPod world AFTER all!!! iPod iPod iPod music this, audio that, iPod iPod...

(oh yeah, and this iMac and iBook thingies)

I'm surprised Apple didn't show the iMac and iBook playing iTunes hooked to an iPod!

Okay, I just realized you were joking...was the first guy joking, though? Tossing $75?? Put it in an envelope and send it to me. Seriously, its not a great burden on me to drive to the store to spend $75 of somebody elses money. Seriously, send them to me.
