Good Morning world (from Australia).
From a dedicated Apple die-hard!!!
Okay I hurried over to my 3Gs and beamed myself up to this lovely macrumors page.
iPhone 4. Hmmm, there's something about the design that's likeable but also detestable. I'm certain I'm not the only one that feels sort of disorientated in that respect!
Double glass façade!
Impressive, yes. But perhaps only behind a display cabinet in an Apple shop. I mean, yes they demonstrated the durability of the glass, but really it's just glass. The inevitable problem there, highlighted since the Romans were using it, is that it breaks! I don't feel so comfortable having a two-face glass façade, not because it'd break, but I couldn't live with myself if I scratched the back glass panel, rupturing that beautiful feel into a 2nd hand broken phone

essentially a rotten apple.
on that note perhaps I'll have to erect nets outside my windows, I'm sensing that I may be empathising with an Apple parts worker on some level???
Video chat, like iChat? Interesting, inventive. But not new. The only thing that permeates this to success is the HD, the processor speed to deal with fps, and the front facing camera. But for those that aren't Myspace whores, who will revel in this new spawn of vain photo-taking, even this new feature is lost already amongst the hype. What brings this down is another multitude of irritations - having to connect to wifi, having to both have iphone 4. So while I'm at uni I'll just tell my tech phobic parents sorry, you have to fork out cash in full to become a dedicated member of the Evangelist Apple Team (EAT... Would you like apple with that?).
I'm swayed by folders, I'm glad it's not totally like a Windows mock-up. Home screen>New Folder>New Folder>New Folder>New Folder, I think you get what I'm driving at. Very reminiscent of Apple's folder view on the dock.
Now white! In three words. Don't like it. I think I'll stick to my white 3Gs thankyou. There's something about this colour I don't like, perhaps the way it removes the commonplace cinema black outline? In any case it just, as another user put it, makes it look more like a prototype than an Apple release...
I don't care to explore the other modicum of details, not much has really changed for the iPhone to be honest. And I think Apple may have run its mandate - don't upgrade much, keep them hooked, keep one step ahead of the competition - a little too far. The Augustan Empire refused to extend its boundaries, and enjoyed everything provided in it's "protected" Golden Age. But this Golden Age of Apple you can't help but wonder what else is out there, are we being protected by Apple products against the barbarian viruses, and the narrow faulty architecture the Windows outside provide. Or is it "protraction" over "protection"?
I'm thoroughly impressed and I'm thoroughly disappointed. I just hope my lust for Apple doesn't convince me to buy the Emperor's clothes themselves!
