When was your iPhone 4 manufactured?

Analysis to date

mykull has been doing a top job tracking all this in his spreadsheet - he's updated it with the input from 250 users who have contributed to this thread. 19 of these users only provided week numbers and not information on the reception/yellowing issues.

I've updated the chart summarising the data (attached). Here is a brief analysis:

Overall
Overall, 59% of the phones are experiencing reception issues and 4% the yellowing.

By Week
Although there is a lot of variance in the number of phones being reported by week of manufacture (the majority of phones reported - 57% - were from week 25), the week seems to have little significance in the reception or yellowing issues.

By Capacity
Of the 150 posts that have provided the phone capacity, 69% are 32GB - this is roughly in line with earlier reports that the 32GB was outselling the 16GB by 2:1. Interestingly also, of those posts with capacity provided, 70% of the 32GB phones suffer reception issues, whilst it is only 55% of the 16GB phones. The yellowing was consistent at 4% for both.

By Factory
I haven't checked the other thread on factory of manufacture, but from the tiny sample provided on this thread, it seems that the issues affect phones regardless of factory.

An ANCOVA of the various variables on reception issues doesn't provide any additional link between the different variables (i.e. the separated items above show pretty much the whole story).

Please keep in mind that this sample size is miniscule and that the content is highly subjective (e.g. opinions will vary between what is a reception issue and what isn't). Thanks mykull for your efforts tracking this.

Mine is week 25, 16GB, no reception issue, no yellowing.

How does apple measure weeks? According to this, 2010 week 25 was Sunday, June 20 - Saturday, June 26. But my phone was picked up be fedex on June 19. So how can it be a week 25 phone?

Cool... :)

I wonder if the first week of the year is the one that starts on December 27 (Sun) and ends on January 2 (Sat), or the following week. Not a big deal, I guess. :)

it would be the following week, because it would be the first full taxable week of the year and that's how companies keep track of those sort of things.. when i worked for walmart though week 1 was actually the first week in february so who knows

I have a week 27 16 GB, I do get less reception usually when holding in my left hand, holding it in landscape with with that bottom left corner pointed up it's usually always 5 bars in my left hand it's between 3 and 5., but no dropped calls or anything. I've seen a green cast only under florescent lighting though not too bad and my other phone did it too, otherwise no issues.

Interested in seeing what that chart looks like in a couple of weeks. Especially with the reception issue on a downward trend after week 25.

Just got my week 22 which had reception problems, proximity sensor issue, and green blob with a black box week 26 32 gb.

No problems what so ever now! sitting in the exact same place and i can't lose any bars with death grip...
