Washington Square in Tigard, Oregon had about 20 - 30 this morning. Mostly Verizon with a few wifi (no AT&T). I wanted the 64GB black but settled for the 32GB black when the guy in front of me bought the last 64GB they had.

Was wondering about Washington Square, how long was the line?

I got there at 8am and the line was already over 20 people. By the time I got into the store there must have been about 70 people. I got the next to last unit they had, the person behind me got the last.

I might try Washington Square tomorrow. I work about two blocks away. Pioneer Place was busy this morning, but a few blocks from where I live.

Interesting, yet disturbing article in NY Post today

And that is exactly what I experienced when I went there yesterday and seeing the massive crowd sitting and waiting for the iPad delivery, I knew there is no chance of getting one at the 5th Ave. Store.

I wonder if going to the store on 14th Street is more civilized and one has a better chance of getting one tomorrow.

I wish Apple would just stop sending hundreds of iPad 2's a day to these NY Apple stores where these @*(#$& are lining up in droves to buy and resell.

I have a number of asian friends so I have nothing against them or any other ethic group. However I've noticed a lot of asian people in the lines I've been in so far. In the line I was in this morning, there were 15 asian people in front of me (out of 20) and I noticed one elderly man taking large wads of cash out of an envelope and handing the money to individuals and clearly giving them some sort of instruction. It's very unusual to say the least.

14th street has apparently received shipments the last two days. I happened to go the day they didn't receive any. I'm definitely going tomorrow. Hate waking up early though.

if you're in NYC, be prepared to go at 6am if you want any remote chance of getting the model you want... any later and you'll likely be stuck with verizon model or empty handed.

the people from chinatown get there around 5am to 6am and they come in numbers.

If you really want an iPad, go to the biggest Apple Store in your area no later than 7AM to wait in line for a ticket. To each his own but try not to settle on something you don't want just because it is there today.

Exactly what I have been seeing in Chicago. Lined up the other day and they kind of budged their way in line as they were walking in the store. I knew enough mandarin to understand what their intentions were.

They went from being 2 in front of me to 8!.. We all made in the store, but sold out and they were unable to get any. Made my day. Gotta credit the chinese folks though for working so hard!

Good advice if they have any. I did this Monday and Tuesday and both days the stores said they had none.

Carousel Mall, Syracuse

Update from Syracuse, NY:

The Syracuse, NY Apple Store sold out of the stock they had available for sale today. (Surprise.) I called at noontime, much later than I did yesterday. Carousel has been opening at 9am for iPad 2 sales.

Unlike what I was told by the same associate yesterday, the salesperson indicated today that any shipment received today would be sold tomorrow morning. (Yesterday she indicated that if a shipment was received during the day, the units would be sold right away.)

I inquired about the models that were received Monday/Tuesday and sold Tuesday/Wednesday, but she would not disclose that information to me. I was hoping to get an idea of whether there was any shot of having my desired configuration be represented in tomorrow's units. Tomorrow is the first day this week that I am available to go wait in line, but I hate to do if there's no chance of getting the model I want (32/AT&T/open to black or white).

Yesterday's Syracuse post here.

When I went on Monday I got there around 8:30 and was about 20th in line. Surprising. Its like people don't know that Apple store exists.

It sure sounds like AT&T models are scarce at the moment. Happens to be the one I want. Hope they will be the majority of the next batch.

Are you talking about the Soho store? That's the one I've been going to.

I don't believe they had any stock Monday morning, which would explain the small line. Tuesday and Wednesday (the store had stock both these days), the morning lines were gigantic

Well not everyone who wants an iPad reads rumor sites and assumes stores are opening early.

Yeah but NYC stores aren't opening early lol.

Nah I'm talking about the West 14. I wouldn't bother with the SoHo or Fifth Ave one. Heavy traffic areas already.

Tried 3 stores this morning in Boston area. Boylston store started getting a big line around 8:15am. They had 16gb and 64gb wifi's and some verizon's, but no at&t's. Same story at the Cambridge and Chestnut Hill one too.

the biggest irony is that these guys paying double for the hardware are likely to not pay a dime for the content they consume on it.

Hope this sort of news gets more light in the press, as it should enforce stricter rules (and therefore better chances for legitimate buyers, not scalpers) on sales the next get-go; Nintendo at least learned after perennial shortages to flood the market at low-demand periods with the 3DS, major retail chains in Japan were requiring ID and down payments to crack down on excess double-dipping.

meant to post earlier. Woke up at 4:45 am, got to Apple in Manahasset at 6 AM, first one there. Store opened at 9 AM, cold as hell. Saw ton of boxes coming in the back door wrapped in tape and shrink. Long store, they only had Verizon 3G, nothing else. I wanted Wifi only and said no way to the bait and switch. Left right there on the spot. I'd rather wait a few weeks than spend $150 of extra cash I never intended. I hate this rollout. 18 models, WTF is this.

was this early opening confirmed for the whole week? when will it end? when I bought my iPad today the employee said to check tomorrow too so at least tomo is still it.

I really want a black 16GB ATT model..sigh

Forgive me if someone else reported in for Indy Keystone.

Regardless of what they might or might not tell you on the phone, they are lining up at 7:30 (some people got there earlier) and selling---"if we have any" at 9:00.

This morning they said they only got Verizon models.

The person I talked to refused to say if they would sell any they got during the day or hog them for tomorrow. But, she did say they would do the same thing tomorrow "if we have any".
