I still like the fit & finish of Portenzo products, my iPad 1 case was superb. I'm really not a fan of the angled outer edges of the P&Q and a few other vendors, don't like the thick folding of the leather/fabric around the corners looks cheap and unfinished to me. I also don't like the limited color options offered for the inside of the P&Q cases, to each their own I guess.

I'm really hoping Portenzo's iPad 2 cases match up to the quality of their first generation cases - tight corners, perfect sanding/finishing, graceful binding, etc. Yes, communication from Team Portenzo has been lacking but for those who are willing to stick it out I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

The first gen ipad case from P&Q didnt have a thick corner either. Might be due to the magnets that need to be fit on the outer edge??

The 23.5 portenzo image on the site clearly has a fold on the corner (you can see the white wrinkles) although no real closeup is made available.

But for a $60 case, not going to get too nit picky. Interested to see real images when they arrive.

My P&Q should arrive today and Treegloo in a week or so.
 
To those saying to tell them not to send it 2nd day air: It's called customer service, they made a mistake in telling everyone they will start shipping on the 21st so to fix it they do something for us.

My issue with them is that they had no communication with the customers. If they just came out and said that it was going to take this much longer for this reason, I would be able to handle that but they did no such thing. Just because they are a small company doesn't mean they can ignore the customer because they have "real" jobs.

On the other side, it's just an iPad case. Nothing to freak out like some people on here have. Just calm down and express your issues in a nice way and hopefully everything will be settled. Helping customers who are nice but disappointed is a must from any business.
 
Has anyone heard from the portenzo folks recently??

Their silence here and on facebook is deafening.
 
Bailing on Portenzo and selling my case to my brother when I get it - not due to all the talk here about delays - but because treegloo will do a ebony finished frame. Just hate the plywood look.

Good luck with your treegloo and its painted frame. It reminds me of a serving tray that Bill Gates might use to serve hors d'oeuvres at a low brow beer party for PC users. I am a quiche and white wine man myself which is why I use a Mac and will wait for my Portenzo.

Portenzo is a collective of busy bees who are happily making cases. Like bees, they are a high strung group of industrious producers of a golden nectar, in this case Portenzo cases. Would you disturb a beehive and ruin the honey? I think not. I therefore implore you to keep your thoughts to yourself so as to not stir up a hornets nest.

Just as a brain surgeon can make a horrible mistake if makes a slip with his scalpel, the case surgeons at Portenzo can make a slip of their X-ACTO knife and ruin your case.

Try to be quiet so as to not disturb the case builders.

Portenzo: Andrae (and all) we are sorry for the delays in responding, we are dealing thousands of emails and going as fast as we can. Please be patient.

Portenzo: Working on it. But the way, all orders stay in "Processing" status until they are shipped...Then you get an email with tracking info.

maybe some updates today
 
Wow, P&Q have excellent Customer service. I made my order yesterday and just got an update saying it is awaiting shipment.

Glad I cancelled the Portenzo, I would be waiting another 3 weeks, for basically the same case.

i ordered an Blue Octavo and a 13" Cartella bout ~8hours ago before it updates to Awaiting Shipment. Love P&Q cos when i asked them for a coupon code, they happily provide :) just hope their product is as good as their customer service.

Do you work for them or a relative of someone who works for them? If not, what kind of job are you in that allows for ignoring customers for the sake of selling more products?

Also, we disturb Honey Bee hives all the time to get Honey. Bees don't make honey for us to eat. Portenzo makes cases for us.
 
The one thing I like about Portenzo is they have leather free options unlike Pad&Quill. I can't wait to see cases from Portenzo.

True, true. I believe Portenzo loves other creatures which is why they only have a small "exotics" section for ruffians. They tend to specialize in lizard and stingray hides and not so much in cow leather.

Which is weird but their standard levant/morocco aren't made of any animals which is good in my book.
 
March 11th order - Morroco - not shipped as well

Pre-ordered on 3/7. Still waiting. What's worse for me is that I start traveling next week. Was hoping to take delivery of the Portenzo before then. Guess I'll have to go to Best Buy or something to buy a temp case...

that suxs.. i read on facebook they are swamped with emails and busy building.. looks like they might need to hire someone to answer emails.. hey i work on computers all day i can check and respond to emails for them :D
 
Ok, so Darin has created graphics for Miller Lite, Budweiser, Icehouse, ebay, etc. So what if you [Steviejobz] drank Icehouse back when it was "cool"? Maybe he only designed for them when it was cool? No need to ridicule Darin, and especially his company due to this. It is obvious by his previous actions that he does care about Portenzo and its customers. Based on what I see, those are some big name companies he was able to design for. Have you completed multiple projects for multiple big companies? I doubt, but please prove me wrong on this. Please.

He may not be a "Geppetto", but you cannot deny that he has talent. (BTW Geppetto was a poor woodcarver, which is often correlated as one having little skill. Which can then translate into you stating Darin has skill.) If he does not have talent, please anyone show us your talents. Seriously, he hasn't even stolen money from you, the charge is pending... Exactly what your credit card company told you. Multiple people, including me, have mentioned that he has cancelled our pre-payments within a couple days after emailing him.

TL;DR: Darin is not as bad as people attempt to make him seem. If you don't like it, take your comments to a different thread please, especially if you're going to conversing about different products. Bitch less.

We trust a company a brand name, and put money on them blindly without seeing the product, if the company actually cares they shud be responsible enough to reply back to emails, which they are not.

ditto.. nicely put.. this thread was started by a macrumors forum user.. darin or portenzo didnt start the thread.. darin does post on here which i think is awesome but the lack of recently has people upset because of no news on shipping.. so we all as macrumors forum users have the right to post our displeasure with the way things are being handled..
 
Looks like they are being more responsive on facebook today. Let's see if sustainable.

I also notice that they are removing posts that are critical or mention cancels. There was one that said something about quality slipping and asking for a refund and they took it down along with a few others.

Because they probably resolved it. No reason for a PR site to keep bad PR up :p common sense.
 
Quite an assumption you have there. Users also have the ability to delete their own posts.

There were a lot of cancellation posts on their Facbook just a day or two ago. It's highly unlikely that all the original posters decided to delete those.
 
It also makes sense to remove the cancellation requests after they had been completed to clear the queue for any future requests and to prevent any confusion on their end. As far as complaints go, I still see plenty of them on their Facebook page that have not been removed.
 
Portenzo needs to get supply and demand back in balance. I suggest that they raise the price from $59.95 to $99.95 and tack on an additional shortage surcharge to the credit card of everyone who has ordered.
