Glad to see things have calmed down more since a mod stepped in. Yes, let us all go back to admiring these cases and trying to stay positive.

I must clarify things. Mods feel free to edit. I am not related to Darin/Portenzo in any possible way, holyindian. I only responded with my response on page 33 due to various reasons, and to troll is not one of them. The recent, negative discussions of Portenzo had shifted from the delayed shipment of cases to: criticizing what Darin has done outside of Portenzo and especially to a discussion of a topic not related to the thread topic for multiple pages. Yes, I did get carried away in my comments, I am sorry, but try to understand where I was coming from.

Again, glad to see things calmed down. Let's try to keep it civil, although it is the internet, before I make a fool of myself again.

I apologize if anyone felt my/the "exchange" with that "individual" with a history of flame-baiting in various threads/posts was troublesome.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to receving my 23.5 case.

I had only seen stock photos of any kind of portenzo case, but the older, smaller portenzo thread, has actual MR user pictures of cases received and the stock photos really do no justice to how beautiful these cases are.

Even though the photos are of the basic, black book-style case.

I tried canceling my order to no avail through their site and also through my order confirmation a few days ago. Hopefully they don't send me an email saying my order has shipped without responding back. I realized white on white is just a little too much out there for me, going along that line I was also worried about the dirt building up, and lastly I never got a response about the mic being blocked on the final design. So it's not really because it may take a while, which I was totally fine with, but rather the other reasons that were allowed to stew in my mind because of the hiatus in responses from portenzo. Regardless I hope they get back to me soon and wish them all the best.

All,

I'm wondering if anyone feels the need to use protective film on the screen with their Portenzo (or similar products such as Octavo, etc.). I want to make sure my iPad stays in good shape (once I receive in 3 weeks or so). Just wondering if the protective film (either clear or glare reducing) is over kill or anyone would still recommend?

Slightly off topic, but still Portenzo related... so hopefully I won't get chewed up too badly. :D

Hi there.

I used Bodyguardz as a protective skin and it's great. I used Invisible Shield for my first iPad but it felt like rubber to the touch and it's quite thick. I like the way Bodyguardz feel and it looks like it doesn't have a protective skin on it. I'm still waiting for my Portenzo case and ZaggMate with Keyboard. I have no problem having a protective skin on my iPad at all.

I have a portenzo and treegloo coming. I'm not gonna use a flim on the screen at all - dirt getting between the cover and screen and scratching it? - nah...that's paranoia - I just used a ipad1 in an industrial situation for a year with all sorts of crap in the air and never scratched the screen - it's glass! I might run a oleo film later in the year where I will not be able to clean fingerprints off, but it won't be because I need to protect the screen.

Anybody remember Phil Hartman on SNL when he was the anal chef, putting his garbage in a sack and then putting that in a sack, etc, etc?

We have some of that here...mellow out people, go have fun and quit worrying about protecting a ipad......

Agree! Almost as OCD as getting a case to protect your case :D

Loving my Octavo so far. Treegloo coming. Might consider Portenzo once backlog clears and we get some pics here. No screen protection.

Portenzo

HTTPS on portenzo's site still not working correctly...

Now I'm torn....

I really like the look of the Portenzo more than the other options... but the wait is going to be loooong since I haven't even ordered yet (and their web site security is not working).

I like the outside of the Octavo but don't like any of the colors for the inside (the pictures look like red, green, or baby blue).

I think the Treegloo looks good but not convinced yet to switch.

I've read too many negatives on Dodocase.

If Portenzo get's their site security in order by tonight, I will go with them. Otherwise, I may have to go with one of the others. :(

use paypal?

Really like the portenzo but haven't gotten any reply from them so I didn't proceed with my order.

Treegloo looks fun but I'm not convinced yet since there are few reviews about it so I went ahead and bought octavo. Hope it reaches me by next week.:)

Just an FYI that Portenzo posted on Facebook yesterday. They acknowledged that they have thousands of emails that they are dealing with, so their email response is currently sub par. Apparently, as each order is ready to ship, they search their Inbox for order number to make sure they haven't received changes, cancellations, etc. Then they are making adjustments accordingly. So, assuming this system is working for now, they should get your messages before they send anything out to you. They recommended if you email them, definitely include the order number in the email.

Yes, that's the thread that also convinced me to buy from Portenzo. Hoping the 23.5 is just as beautiful as the pics posted in that thread. The basic black and the ostrich (exotic) posted in that thread are fantastic. Fingers crossed!

I'm going to order even though the iPad 3 might be announced before I get my order. :) I think the Portenzo cases look the sweetest of all in this style of iPad case.

This seems like such a backwards way of doing things. Why would you construct something and then check to see if it has to be changed or cancelled. Why not go through your emails, cross off all the ones that cancelled and bump everyone else up in the queue?

have to agree thats pretty stupid :D

I think Darin said on Facebook that they are checking for email changes as orders were being produced and shipped...not just when they are shipping.

I can't access it now, since I'm at work, so I suggest everyone check Portenzo's Facebook posts. I don't want to misrepresent their process with an incorrect interpretation!

I suspect the issue is that they are dealing with far more emails than can reasonably (given whatever resources they have) be checked as you suggest in a timely fashion. And my guess is that most cases (except when engraved) can be sent to a different customer in the que if the original customer decides he/she no longer wants it or wants to change it. Basically, if I were to cancel my order for a 23.5 with strap and no camera hole, it would probably just go to the next person in line who ordered a case of the same specs. So, the manufacturing process and resources wouldn't be wasted.

I'm not canceling my case, BTW! Stay away, you vultures! :D

yeah it sounds strange, but if you think about it - they'll still get to yours in the same order/same time. "bumping up in the queue" wouldn't actually mean anything.

ie. order #s 1,2,3,4 and 5 and you're #5.
If 2 and 3 are cancelled anyway - you still have to wait until they finish 1 and 4.

I orderd my case at 8:04 AM this morning. Where the hell is my shipping notice? :D

Hey Everyone, just wanted to let you know that I received last night my email with the shipping information. I place my order on March 10th (standard, Levant), so you can imagine they do have hefty back log. Please have patience and stop the unnecessary rude comments!

+1

Because of their backlog they should check emails before they send the cases out. A customer could have changed their mind about an option in that time.

I think people should quit being armchair quarterbacks. They make the best cases of this type in my opinion. They know what they are doing. It is obvious they have the most orders of any iPad book case maker. Plus they aren't just making iPad 2 cases. iPad 1s are going really cheap now and those people may want a Portenzo too.

Just got mine in. Here are some quick photos (sorry, iPhone 4 camera):
One of the spine, one of the area of the inside cover that holds the 4 Magna Grip magnets, and one of the rubber grips that holds the iPad in place.

OMG! Thank you! it looks so nice... this isn't a April Fools joke, is it?!

I'm glad that there is not space when the cover is close!!!
