I don't really watch TV those days. But those are shows that I really enjoyed. I own all of the Buffy and Angel seasons on DVD, and own Firefly on DVD, that show was great, damn Fox for cancelling it. (And damn you WB for cancelling Angel too! )

Buffy
Angel
Firefly

The X-Files
Stargate SG-1
The Outer Limits

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
Xena: Warrior Princess

The Twilight Zone

Can't got past Firefly as others have mentioned, though it was never screend in Aus. I did manage to aquire a copy of the DVD box set.

Others of note:
Stargate SG-1, and Atlantis (Downloaded)
(Spoiler Jack and Carter Kiss  in Moebius Pt. 2) maybe shouldn't have said that .
Battlestar Galactica
Sliders 1-4 (five was a dud)
Alias
Transformers Generation 1 + movie
Initial D + movie

Cheers
Jordan

So hard to come up with just one, but my shortlist would have to include (in no particular order):

Babylon 5
Firefly
Soap
The Beiderbecke Affair
Profit
Callan (showing my age - that's from the 60's lol)

Picket Fences
The Practice
Ally McBeal (S1 and 2)

Yes, I am a David E Kelley Fan except for his movies which bombed big time.

Yeah, I liked Picket Fences too!
And Futurama of course. Especially with all the Mac references.

No fans of The Sopranos around?!

My Family from the BBC.

That is one on the very top list that I can come up with

I fell in love with Season 2 of Angel, but the show went gradually downhill from there... Half of the episodes in the last season were absolutely abysmal

So many good shows listed already.

House (new favorite)
Gilmore Girls (although going way downhill)
Welcome Back Kotter (oh, Travolta, how we loved you)
Keen Eddie (kind of)
Month Python's Flying Circus

Homicide: Life on the Street

I dare any of you netflix'ers to order a disc and tell me that it isn't captivating. I guess those who rent normally can get it too - it will be worth your money.

What is your favourite TV-show/programme/series of all times?
There have been dozens of shows that I probably watched religiously at the time they were on the air, but for this discussion I'm trying to limit myself to shows that, if an episode came on right now, I'd sit down and watch. I don't think I can narrow it down to just one, but almost no one else has either, so here are some of my "must see" shows from years past:
  • The Carol Burnett Show. Perhaps the best sketch comedy show ever. Some of my favorite moments are those when the cast members get cracked up at each other and because the show was filmed live, before a studio audience, they just had to try to get through it.
  • Hill Street Blues. "Let's be careful out there."
  • St. Elsewhere. My favorite "hospital" show of all time. E.R. can't hold a candle to this show.
  • The "A" Team. B.A. Baracus: "I pity the fool." Hannibal: "I love it when a plan comes together."
  • Moonlighting. Still a big Bruce Willis fan, but he's never been as good as he was on this show. One of the first shows that I remember really breaking through the fourth wall by having the characters turn to address the audience about whatever was going on in the show. Also the great arguments between Dave and Maddy, where both of them were talking at the same time and neither was listening to what the other was saying.
  • Twin Peaks. David Lynch, 'nuff said. To this day, my wife reminds me that I once broke a date with her to stay home and watch an episode of Twin Peaks, even though my roommate had offered to tape it for me so I could watch it later.
  • Mad About You. Up until the last season or so, I really enjoyed this show a lot. Great chemistry between the leads.
  • Chicago Hope. Another favorite hospital show, although I lost interest after Mandy Patinkin left the show.
  • Homicide. My favorite "cop show" of all time. Have the first three seasons on DVD, the rest are on my Amazon.com wish list (note: My birthday is this Thursday, so act fast).
I was, and still am, a big "Seinfeld" fan, although I'm a little burnt out on it at the moment because it seems like every channel on the dial (*) is showing "Seinfeld" reruns these days. Sort of the same situation for "Law & Order", which of course is both currently in production and in reruns, so it's almost unavoidable.

Some of my new favorites are:
  • House, M.D. I love this show, although I'm worried that this standard formula that each episode follows won't carry the show for a whole lotta seasons. But Hugh Laurie is just great as Dr. House.
  • Monk. Have been a Tony Shalhoub fan since Wings. This is a wonderful show.

(*) For you youngsters reading this: Once upon a time, televisions had dials, and in order to change channels you actually had to get up, walk across the room, and turn the dial.

Knight Rider was so ultra cool when I saw it as a youngster.

Having seen it recently in reruns, I'm shocked at how cheesy it all looks now. Bad acting and piss poor production values abound.

Being an 80's child I have to go with
The A Team
Night Rider
Transformers
for those old school Nickeloden watchers, You Cant Do That on Television
Simpsons
Family Guy
Arrested Development
Picket Fences
Boston Public
Macgyver

Almost forgot Full House, cheesy now but i liked it then

Red Dwarf
Star Trek
-The Original Series
-The Next Generation
-Deep Space Nine
-Voyager
-Enterprise
NYPD:Blue
CSI:
-Crime Scene Investigation (Las Vegas)
-Miami
-New York
Law & Order
-Criminal Intent
-Special Victims Unit
This Hour has 22 Minutes
Royal Canadian Air Farce
House MD
Dark Angel
Family Guy
Simpsons
Greg the Bunny
Rescue Me.
Everwood
7th Heaven
Charmed
Andromeda
Stargate SG-1
Futurama
News with Cavuto

TEG

That's definitely a hard one. Among my favorites:
1) Red Dwarf
2) Monty Python's Flying Circus
3) The Wild, Wild West (NOT the 1999 movie!)
4) Get Smart
5) Dukes of Hazzard
6) The Prisoner

I can't say I have a single favorite, because I love them all for different reasons. :)

Of course Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Futurama, BUT what about Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood that has to be up there with the all time best shows no doubt.

Northern Exposure
I really love that program, saw a lot of them but can only buy series one in the uk.

also liked the first couple of Six Feet Under, it got poor and really freeking bad when David got abducted by a hitch hiker and covered with petrol. That sort of horror stopped me from ever watching another episode.

Why has prime time abandoned the buddy/monkey routine????

does clean sweep count?
perhaps not... since i am so noble now days and consider tv beneath me*,
ill list the tv shows that i remember watching faithfully when i was a single digit:

i used to love knight rider (loved kitt)(hated baywatch)
bj and the bear (i cant remember the plot for the life of me. i guess i liked it bcos of bear. he was the monkey, right?)
dukes of hazard (had crush on bo)
muppets (loved john denver)
in search of... (it came on following the muppets, go figure)
chips (once again, crush on blond guy)
-feyd

*i am lying of course!... i LOVE my tv! :p

I'm sorry, but nothing can beat The Bill as the all-time greatest show.

Of course, The Simpsons, South Park and The Family Guy have to in there somewhere. ;)
