Back to Jobs/Apple. My problem with them is refusing to listen to a well-established base of pro consumers who've paid highly over the years.

:apple:

How do you know consumers want flash and want blu ray etc ? if they are desperate for either then there are plenty of companies that have those so the fact that Apple are selling more devices than ever despite a deep recession shows that Apple are in touch with what their users want.

Galaxy tablet has flash a plenty but you could barely give it away in the UK while people are queueing for hours for an iPad which makes me think that consumers don't want flash and Apple are right
He is Apple chairman, how much day to day involvement he has I don't know, depends on his health I guess but I would be surprised if he did not still have very significant involvement in the running of Apple

Makes sense to me.

How many people in the US voted for George W. Bush. Twice.

And are willing to do it all over again despite the obvious.

Clueless easily-sold newbies should NEVER be the test for any company. CURRENT longterm pro high ticket customers SHOULD be.

Because newbies purchased so cheaply often bail when they realize they've been had.

Politicians AND corporations had better quit taking their base for granted.

66% of iPhone 4 users are going to buy the iPhone 5, as contracts are 2 years these days with most networks (UK anyways) that means that most people are going to buy out their existing contracts in order to get the iPhone 5 so at least 66% of people are totally satisfied with Apple, those people know that there is no Flash.

Apple is more than a brand it is a cult, a borderline religion so what applies to other brands does not apply to Apple, once you are sucked in you are sucked in for life

Source of claims? My wife has the iPhone 4 with Tesco. It was on a 12 month contract (now expired.) We've got no plans to buy an iPhone 5. I can't believe we are in the minority.

There was a poll, I believe that it was posted somewhere on this board infact, that 66% of iPhone 4 users intend to get an iPhone 5 and 85% of people that intend to buy a tablet over the next 12 months will get an iPad

That seems a bit far fetched (from a UK perspective), was it a US survey because they tend to get early upgrades?

As far as I can tell none of the people I know with the iPhone 4 will be upgrading. Those with the 3GS are looking forward to it though.

I probably will upgrade. I bought my iPhone 4 outright and sold my 3GS so this time round I can get a subsidised upgrade...

Probably US yeah I would guess, I am due an upgrade in November as am an O2 gold customer so get 6 months early upgrade so will probably either wait till November before getting the iPhone 5 (more likely January with the demand) or buy out my contract and get the iPhone 5 on launch day.

So you're upgrading your 3GS? ;)

We're too poor where I live to have two iPhones. :p

I can't upgrade until May so I might skip the iPhone 5 and wait for it's replacement.

Almost exactly the same number that voted for Gore then Kerry. The only notable change in voter sentiment in the past decade or two was the advent of the Tea Party (which is a movement not a party).

Clinton was reelected with a good margin despite R trends in the house and senate.

Politics. Yesterday there was a VERY interesting hearing on the debt committee, and when I say a federal congressional committee is interesting, I have to check myself. But I stand by it. Then this morning the Treasury secretary goes onto an investors conference and assures us that Europe will not have a Lehman (a investment bank which almost conformed to Bush's post-911 capital requirements of 2%, by having 6% yet was still thrown under the bus by a federal mark to market rule recently added after that other rule change) because they have "cronie capitalism", which all observers took as comforting.

Then he said he was all in on the Obama Jobs plan, which includes short term tax tricks on the spending side and long tern tax increases on the revenue side. A plan which notably Obama BOTH said would be paid for by the debt committee add-on, and later also disclosed he was proposing the same tax increases he used for a couple of months to demogogue his political opponents.

We are still in a political era of don't let a good crisis go to waste. Given that, Republicans employed the technique to force fiscal conservatism on this President and congress by making a commission a condition of a debt increase.

Based on Democrat leader comments during the commission meetings, it is the very best thing that could have ever happened to this country. I happen to agree with that.

BRAC commission format SUCCEED!

Rocketman

RM to Geitner: need ideas to implement? Just view yesterdays debt commission testimony. Plenty of meat there. Heck, I remember the height of the crisis when CNBC's Cramer screamed to issue $1T in 30 year bonds. He was right. I have other specific ideas but no access to policy. Contact me. :D

Because everyone who is happy with a product line is automatically a member of a cult? Really? Grow up. :p

Not everyone, but enough of them that it's a recognized phenomenon.

I am obsessed with Apple

I have been buying Apple products for 20 years, 3 Mac's of various description, 4 iPhones, 3 iPod's, 2 iPad's, 2 Mac Books's and I am so hooked on Apple that I could not imagine myself buying the product of a competitor when there is an Apple device on the market, I have also never had a single problem with any of the above listed and they have all worked like clockwork so as well as beauty and style Apple comes with quality

Thanks for stating the obvious. We had NO idea you were a member of the Mac cult.

I've owned many Apple products - am all Mac at home. And having used several other products, manufacturers, OSes, etc- I can say with 100 percent certainty that every device/etc has its flaws. All technology fails now and then. I have had my Apple products crash or spontaneously reboot or lock up just as I have with other platforms.

I believe you are 100 percent happy with your Apple products. But I find it nearly impossibly to believe that you have NEVER had a SINGLE problem.

Only problems I have had that I recall are MSN messenger never loading on the Mac, less concern now that I use Skype only and also I had the signal drop issue on the iPhone 4 which tbh didn't irritate me enough to take it back so I have been pretty lucky so far, any other problems I have had have been self inflicted (water damage etc)

It's probably more accurate to say that with Apple products flaws are minimal in comparison to Windows PC's.

Absolutely

To give credit where credit is due Windows 7 is a pretty good OS, I have Windows 7 at work and it is pretty trouble free but XP, 95, 98 and Vista were bloody nightmares especially the first 3 with their BSOD's which I guess makes me look back at Mac more fondly if there were any faults

Exactly. I don't hate Windows for the sake of hating Windows. After all I have used Windows for close to 2 decades. Macs just work better. Plus I like the fact that OSX is in reality a polished *NIX distro.
