and he'll be holding a G5 Powerbook when it's unveiled :p :) :p

But he'll say: No, you can't have it! Wait until next year's WWDC for the Intel PowerBook! :(

Steve's probably hiding under there.

Yep.

He is going to pop up from under the cloth, yell "surprise", and announce "the transistion to Intel was a joke. IBM really does have a whole new line of high powered low-wattage CPU's. Meet the new PowerBook G6". :D

LOL! He fooled us, didn't he. :p

Are PowerMacs on display at the booths, or are they missing like the iBooks and PowerBooks?

If the outsides haven't changed, then there is no reaosn to cover them up as everything is hidden by the case.

Where in those photos is this black cloth supposed to be? In one picture it looks like an area could be blocked off - but in the next you can see that area as well..?!

Maybe i'm a little blind today.

*edit* ...Ohh, THAT black cloth..yup, I was blind!

Doesn't look like it's hiding anything significant, only a small area seems to be covered.

what about .mac ? It has been do for an update.

If they come out with new Power Mac's tomorrow, I will be the first one to order it...

If they come out with new Power Mac's tomorrow, I will be the first one to wait for Barefeats review, compare it to the current Powermacs and try to get a cheap refurbished Powermac. Unless there is a huge speed/feature boost I don't see why I should go for a dual core.

did anyone realise that if u add any upgrade to a pb that the shipping automitcly changes from 1-3 or 6-8. Maybe apple is getting smart and putting hte actual shipping date when u try to add anything to your pb

Well, I think you have a hunch. Not with the 1-3 days, for that is normal on BTO. However, the 6-8 days, when you add iWork or Logic is very strange, and I think that means something.

This is also *very* obvious on the Powermacs, which I am almost certain will be updated tomorrow. It says 24 hours on the bottom two models, but add any customization and it goes 2-4 days, which is slightly longer than normal BTO (1-3 days).

Need to see something/anything happening to the portable Macs.
The "recent" attitude in Apple towards their computers is really sad. I know that they are making a lot of $$$ on their iPod, and yes the nano is great (understatement), but they seem to have forgotten us "old" faithful Mac users.

I really hope that they will come with some sort of upgrade in the PowerPC line before they go "Inside" :p .
Waiting until 2006 is just to big gap IMO.

But let's see.

The Irish online Apple store has all iBooks ready to ship in five days as well as the Dual 2.7GHz Power Mac. Didn't they just update the iBook? Maybe Steve is planning a surprise Keynote.

1. if that black curtain is really being held up by masking tape, which it sort of looks like, someone really should take one for the team, burst in, and slice it down with a pocketknife.
2. If Apple were going to surprise everyone with an Intel PB this much ahead of schedule, they would do absolutely everything to keep it under wraps... including downplaying any appearance by Steve Jobs, making the whole thing seem really routine. But,
3. That's not going to happen, although it's a lovely dream. When I saw the PB roadmap my first thought was, "well they're going to deliver a lot sooner than that." But this is too soon, I think.
4. That is a decent sized area curtained off, I think, at least for a product showcase or something... if they didn't have a whole row of said product for people to try out, that is. And Apple does like to do that.

So I think, something new something better, but not quite as big as an intel-based PB. just a few hours anyway...

Obviously something new is coming. And something not too major or too interesting (MP PowerMacs are major but do not make a good keynote) beacuse the keynote was replaced with a Q&A. So what could it be?

- Powerbook - Yes, please.
- PowerMac MP - Yes, please.
- BT Mighty Mouse - What, I can dream, can't I?
- New iPods - 2006. The line-up should now be finalized for christmas.
- iWork 06/iLife 06 - Are coming in 2006.
- Intel - Is coming to Mac mini/iBook at Macworld.

BT Mouse MP - I cant see why not.

Bumps this year I think, else why not a major keynote?

I keep thinking they should implement that pattent that puts an ipod, in my thouhgts a nano, into the PB or maybe better yet the iMac head to better control music etc.

Mine came out differently:
Will there be updated PowerBooks? >> Yes.
Will it be a G5? >> Reply Hazy, Try Again
Will i be a dual core G4? >> Without a doubt :eek::eek::eek:
PowerMac updates? >> You may rely on it.
iBooks? >> You may rely on it.
Anything Intel? Better not tell you now. :(

Seriously though, I'm starting to think there won't be a new processor in the PowerBooks yet. Remember when it comes to announcements, always expect for a much much smaller announcement than what you'd like to see.

Anyone check the ship times of laptops from the apple store?

TM

I think Apple may stop the practice of changing ship times for products when new ones are coming. They didn't with the nanos...the minis were shown as shipping within 24 hours upto the nanos announcement.

Probabnly something lame with .Mac

Ever since Tiger came out we (Dot Mac members) were supposed to get exclusive widgets and some more stuff. Of course it'll be really lame if that's all the expo brings us but, knwoing that I need a new PowerBook soon I know Apple won't update them until the day after I buy one. I'm tired of waiting for the intel chips :(

*Sigh*

I always get all excited for nothing...looks like I'll be up late, whatever happens, I'll know :D
