Pre-Orders

I just came back from Best Buy and they told me that they will only be doing the pre-orders for the iPhone 6 4.7" display and NOT the iPhone 6 Plus 5.5" display. This came from the store manager and the manager at the mobile department.:mad: Has anyone heard this??

This is from the best buy forum website:

Can I Pre-order the iPhone 6

You should be able to pre-order the iPhone 6 on Friday September 12, 2014 at Best Buy stores, Best Buy Mobile stores, and BestBuy.com. A $50 deposit is required for in-store pre-order, applicable to purchase price. Full purchase amount is required for online pre-order. Carriers, coverage and products may vary by store.

UPDATE 9/11: Pre-orders will only be available in Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores.

UPDATE 9/11: We will not be taking pre-orders for the iPhone 6 Plus

Verdict?

Looks like lego, I guess it was painful :p

Honestly, it was surprisingly comfortable. In fact one possible plus is that it DEFINITELY won't do the annoying thing my 5 does where it turns round horizontal in my pocket.

Someone mentioned shirt pockets. I never really wear shirts so didn't try. Pretty sure it'd be sticking its head right out though. It's definitely a big phone!

Um, if only the thickness was not 10x the actual device, you might have had something there.

Yes, I tested with something I knew empirically to be thicker and thus proved that IF that felt OK a far slimmer item would be even less issue. The key dimensions for the test were height / width obviously.

Thickness was about 2.5x btw. I also am aware that the new iPhone is not made of Duplo :p

Im not sure if ill go 6 or 6+ yet, but im buying full price T-mobile 64 GB space gray or Gold. The silver one looks so lifeless.

Ok, so I've spoken with both Apple (4 different people) and T-Mobile.

For us that are not from US, can't order any iPhone in US from the sale start (19th) because it will be locked to T-Mobile and you have to wait 40 days with an activated and sim card.

Only thing we can do is wait and hope that they will release already after the release an un-locked version.

----------

It's contract less but you can't unlock it. So it's without any contract but you have to use it with T-mobile for at least 40 days until you can un-lock it.

That's true if you get it from T-Mobile but has not been true for phones bought directly from Apple. The Apple reps give out misinformation either out of ignorance or that's what's on the script. I'd still give the pre-order a shot. If it doesn't work, rest assured that if you find a phone in stock, as long as it isn't Sprint, if you pay full price it will be unlocked. If they have a Verizon model, get that one. Verizon agreed years ago not to lock any of their LTE phones in exchange for getting some of the most sought after spectrum in the country.

I'll take whatever color T-Mobile 64GB I can tonight. They will likely sell out quickly since the T-Mobile version is the only one that is being sold contract free in the pre-order.

My only decision is whether to stay up or go to sleep and set my alarm for 1:50am. At least I'm not in Eastern time anymore.

UK midnight = not available yet.

Why do Apple keep doing it like this?

If they mean "from 8am on 12 Sep" then why not say that instead of "from 12 Sep" across their international sites... which can mean anytime for the rest of the world outside the US!

i.e. US peeps automatically know it's 12am PT, so can set their alarm 30 mins before accordingly (and if night time in their area, can have a nice sleep), while in other countries we're left guessing about it, just in case Apple have a change of plan and sneakily open the sales early to avoid site shutdown probs or similar.

WHAT . A . PAIN . IN . THE . NECK! :(

It's 12:01am PDT. So it's annoying for basically everyone not on the West Coast, Alaska, or Hawaii. Do you stay up late or hope that you hear your alarm.

Obviously they risk their servers being slammed which they probably will be but I agree I wish they were more specific. After they totally screwed up their live view of their keynote I'm not surprised though. Despite Apple being so huge and garnering so much attention they were still not prepared for all the traffic during their announcement and I doubt they will be for the launch of their pre-orders. It's said but I guess the people who really want to be the first customers will have to suffer through this and try and get it.

Could not agree more! It is so annoying. I'm sitting in UK hitting F5 on the website and reloading app in hope it comes alive.

Pre-Order

Last year I woke up at 8 AM and ordered the 5s right from the Verizon website with no problem. I'm crossing my fingers for a similar situation this year. I'd rather not stay up until 3 AM eastern time.

to be honest if its not live now it won't be until 8am.

I wish they did a midnight launch so its less load on their servers all at once

Very probably, though remember last year's efforts to slip-out the iPad Mini 2 in the middle of the night at 4-5am UK time. Although, that was done very deliberately by Apple due to low volume availability, which is not quite the same circumstance as their iPhone releases.

Still won't go to bed tonight though, just have to stay-up and do some paperwork or something, yuk!

I'm not going to buy an iPhone, because the 5c is so expensive. However I will try to be on Apple's US website just to contribute for the total server meltdown and to piss people off.

Your mom lied you are not that special or that powerful but dream on.

Frankly, Apple are being cagey over the actual time for Australia. If you call their number, you get a recorded message saying that they are no longer taking orders for the iPhone 6.
If you go onto online chat, they just say "sometime today".

I don't like being toyed with.

Deliver to work address?

Does anyone recall whether Apple will ship phones purchased on contract to addresses that are not the same as that to which the carrier's bills are sent? I'll be working on the 19th and would rather have it delivered to me there instead of left at my doorstep.

How To Pre-Order On ATT

All,

Just a quick question as I want to be quick on the trigger when ordering at 3AM!

Can I simply go online, log into my account, and then click "upgrade now" and select the iPhone 6 that I want?

Also, I was planning on upgrading my sons phone and sending it to him at school. Can I have it sent directly to him, or will it only ship to the billing address?

Thanks!

Does any one know what time the UK preorders start? midnight uk time? Thanks.

It's even in the title of the story! 12:01am PACIFIC. Geez, people are so lazy.

I pre-ordered for the iPhone 5. FedEx pretty much threw it at the door and ran :)

And we all remember this, right?

Wow, lol. That sucks! Does the dog usually chew on cardboard boxes?

Erm der... this site is aimed at the US market principally, hence the headline is not clear on whether they mean just for US orders or for the rest of the world too – and they certainly didn't bother to clarify further in the article either.

So not so lazy are we, thanks.

I think I've read all comments, but if someone's mentioned this already, sorry.

I've been flip flopping on which size to get. I talked with Verizon. Their 14 day return policy will be in effect. I can return for a refund or exchange within that 14 days for a $35 restocking fee. So anyone with Verizon, that's on the fence regarding size but wants to get an order in, has an out if they decide they made the wrong choice.

I'd rather not throw another $35 bucks at it if it comes to it but I don't want to go down there anytime during the first week and try to do the touchy-feely thing. (and I really don't want to wait any longer to kiss my Android goodbye) I'm pretty sure the 4.7" is the most realistic choice for my hand size, but I think it's a teeny downgrade in size from my S4 when I was hoping for slightly larger size from Apple. The Galaxy S5 screen size would probably be perfect for me.

Okay okay, but your question was asked by like 4 different people in England alone in the comments.

I'm coming from the S4 also. I'm thinking the 4.7" is best, too. 5.5 is just too tall considering how big the top bezel is. You could always wait until the 19th to test them out.

Yep, I could, but masses of people isn't my thing. Since I'm almost certain that size is the most realistic for me, I feel pretty confident ordering it. I need to change my focus from the size, which I can't make any bigger than 4.7 or smaller than 5.5, and remember that I will be back to an iPhone which is what I've really been waiting for!

I don't think it's going to be an issue for me (but watch out if they come out with a "tweener") but for others that are really, really torn this might be an option.

I'll be up with the rest of you getting my pre-order in. Well, hopefully!

Im assuming all countries are launching at the same time instance

Pacific 12am
Hk 3pm
Aus (no official timing, store hasnt still gone down for preordering despite it being 10am 12 sep already)
Singapore (no official timing)
