I just spoke with UPS and he confirmed that they are absolutely holding our packages until the last moment they can ship to be delivered on 9/25. He told me that my package was a lower priority and that it was apples decision who got expedite or service shipping. The higher priority packages are shipped first and the rest just have to wait. They simply don't consider a more than 24 hour layover a delay because it's not scheduled until Thursday... So instead of maybe trying to get ahead of their backlog they are content to let our packages sit...

Figures!!!

Well based upon what I am seeing on this thread now, it will do me no good to stay up the next 90 minutes to see if they do the import scan and departure scan since they are holding packages until the last moment they can. Oh well. Nothing we can do but grit our teeth.

I was barely able to place an order at 3:43 am (eastern time zone). So yesterday I called UPS and asked why my order was stuck in China for 3 days. UPS told me that Apple chose a slower shipping method, and it's still scheduled to be on time (9/25).

So I called Apple and asked, why did you guys select a slower shipping method for me? They told me that expedited shipping is not available for preorders, only standard shipping. I asked why my phone was stuck in China for 3 days and then stuck in Louisville overnight without moving. (It still hasn't been imported 24 hours later). The apple representative told me that I was originally quoted a delivery dated of 10/1 - 10/6 so I should be happy that it's scheduled for an earlier delivery.

I said that I had trouble placing the order and was barely able to place the order after 43 minutes of trying. I expected to have a release date delivery. She said that the carriers needed to give approval (confirm eligibility) and that was also slowing down preorders. I told her that the carriers had nothing to do with Apple's website not working. She told me that there was no promised time for when preordering would start.

Makes me wonder if I want to give Apple my money, just on the principle of it. Apple does some incredible engineering, but this process is really sucking the joy out getting a beautiful new phone. Sure, the iPhone 6 is a better phone than my iPhone 5, but my purchase (128 gb 6+) is mainly out of desire and not need.

That desire is rapidly turning into disgust, and any thoughts I had about purchasing an apple watch are quickly dissipating.

So are my thoughts reasonable, or do I sound like I'm spoiled and whining?

I had the same issues, but you have to look at the very large bright side. Yes the preorder system sucked, but as of today MANY 6 Plus phones are not available in the Apple Stores (Don't even bother with ATT, Verizon..they wont carry them until at least Nov.) So you will get it on the 25th, meanwhile people who didn't do the preorder what so ever and want the 6+, well they will be waiting until god knows when in stores. Limited first come first serve...and since were hitting Xmas Holiday shipping, the rush is already on.

Even orders placed on the 13th, 14th, 15th..they will be waiting another 3-4 weeks at the earliest to see them. We've waited this long, its been a mind-draining wait total emotional rollercoaster that can make you insanely mad, I know. But think, 2 days. Doesnt that sound so much better than 2 weeks?

I feel like that is such poor management. Why not just get rid of the packages to make room for more? Nah, we'll just let them collect dust because their deliveries say this Thursday! If we get it to their door any earlier, then the customers may actually appreciate us!!
Yeah! Next thing you know, they'll expect next-day delivery for ground deliveries! We can't have that! We might get more customers!

There's no excuse to push back our delivery date if they've been sitting in the same exact place for 24+ hours at least.

The excuse is that there are customers ahead of you. They are delivering to them.

Maybe thats why thy haven't gotten to ours?

The point is that Apple promised us all the same level of shipping service but then chose to split us in to 2 separate categories... People are completely justified in being dissapointed that phones from the exact same batch are given completely different priority.

I would hope that there aren't any customers ahead of us (well, iPhone orders at least). I ordered within 45 minutes of preorders opening (I couldn't any sooner since the Apple website was so glitchy)...I'm not saying that I deserve a higher spot, but if the facility is able to process 30,000 packages an hour (I do believe that was the latest statistic from the video I watched on the facility) then there really isn't much of an excuse. I'll take nothing less than a bomb threat at this rate :p

AND...just got an update. Yeah, the date pushed back to the 25th. Figured that would happened. Oh well, not going to sweat it.

And, how much do you want to bet that there have been plane loads of phones that have arrived and left within the last 24 hours while our phones just sat with their low priority stickers?

That's even more lame. I'm really sorry man...

I would bet zero dollars because it's not even a bet. We've actually been seeing it happen. UPS will never intentionally get another ****ing dime out of me.

Imagine if ours got pushed back by another day. I'm pretty sure I'd tear into somebody at UPS or Apple...and I have never called in to complain about a service before.

I have been stuck in KY for almost 24hrs. Wonder why this hasn't left yet.

We have learned that our packages have been marked as low priority. I wouldn't be surprised if they sit there another day just so UPS ensures that they don't get shipped to us a day early.

2 days definitely sounds better than 2 weeks. But then again, getting a full night's sleep sounds better than setting my alarm at 2:50 in the morning (and then spending the next 2 hours trying to preorder my and my wife's new iphones). I expected to get up, put in my preorders in 20-30 minutes max, go back to sleep and get a release day shipment.

Instead, I spent hours trying to get both preorders in. And people whose phones were shipped after mine are getting deliveries earlier than me (because Apple selected me for expedited service instead of express saver).

So specifically, what irks me:
1) Wasting hours in the middle of the night because Apple can't set up a proper server farm. Don't tell me it's too technically difficult. Plenty of websites handle far more volume every day.
2) Shipping delays because I got selected to a lower tier of shipping on a $950 phone. (Shouldn't the most expensive phones with the largest profit margins get the faster shipping option?) At the very least, everybody should get the same shipping speed.
3) Probably the most irritating issue, Apple and UPS not acknowledging my concerns about the preorder process and shipping delays and being told that I should just be happy with what I have. (Really, after I shelled out nearly $600 for a phone--$500 plus tax plus $40 upgrade fee--after the $450 subsidy for a 2 year contract).
4) Apple couldn't even get the keynote streamed properly.

I think Apple is burning through some significant brand loyalty here, and UPS is adding insult to injury. Not that I'm going to do anything about it (it's not like I'm going to return the phone because of this). But I'll think twice before giving Apple my money in the future.

I'm starting a business that needs a couple of servers. I was toying with the idea of running Apple servers.

Now this ..if this 24 hr hold BS happens to me tomorrow since Louisville seems to have their head up their a**es, yeah, then I'll be in rage mode. Seriously its like they are waving these in our faces just to tease us.

I said its not a big deal, now thinking 'c'mon a plane from Louisville to Philly, - unless it wants to make some other out of the way destination to Chicago for example..it would be here by morning,' on a truck to the hub near by. I'll pick it up. I've had shipments from Arizona that left at 10pm local time and had my items by 11am MY time that following day!

Thats awesome, yeah I had the 24th, changed to the 25th 20 minutes ago, then back to the 24th. Maybe they put together a few brain cells and fueled up a new plane! :)
