Yes, I called that number once a couple weeks ago and was told the same thing and yes, there's letters in my order number too. I'm in the 11/9 - 11/27 range so I'll try again when that time frame approaches.

When Apple marketing decides to send 10 million iPhones to China was AT&T in the room? Apple provided the wrong estimates to AT&T. Apple made "estimates" to AT&T and AT&T makes "estimates" to us. This is why I haven't paid a penny to AT&T yet. I think the world is getting much smaller -- people in Estonia are watching the launch day parties on YouTube right along with us. They don't want to wait either, and their Euro's are as good as the Dollar.

saw all the activity and called and got PROCESSING!!! then checked my bank account and they have charged my account....please tell me this means what i think it means!
Sounds promising for sure.... keep us updated to see if you get a shipping notification or tracking number in the next 24-48 hours.

To the rest of us that are in the 10/13 - 10/22 bracket, hang in there. I couldn't believe it so I called another two times to make sure it wasn't a mistake. I'm thinking tomorrow we'll see a few more updates for the rest of us waiting.
Another confirmation that the 877 # is the first thing to update and what most of us have been going by. I'm still pissed off over the whole thing but I think u see light at the end of the tunnel. It'll probably be another 48hrs till I get shipping info.
I'm not going anywhere though, I'm gonna stay here with you guys while you wait for your updates. Since we've been following each other for the past few days/weeks, it's the least I can do. I'll keep you guys posted as to when I receive shipping info just to give the rest an idea of what to expect.

What was your shipping window? I went back and looked at old posts and it looked like you said 11/1-11/27? Is that correct? It seems like a window that no one else has that is why I was curious.

My order went from "backordered" to "processing" on the 877 number. The ETS is still 11/3-11/12 same as what the Order Status site says, but it is SO good to hear something other than "backordered"

Ordered a Gold 128GB 6+ on 10/6 with expected ship dates of 11/13 - 11/24.
The 877 # says that I am on backorder but the Premier 866 # says my order is processed and will be "shipped shortly"? Which # has been more reliable? I can't imagine that the 866 # is accurate, no way my phone is about to be shipped.

Ordered 16gb SG on 9/20 but was a problem on there end so didnt process till 9/22, one site says order Processing, other site pending shippment, 866# last week said sent to warehouse for processing this week been saying shipped, 877# says backorder. Leading me in every direction, not sweating yet my expected shipping dates are 10/30-11/10.
Not sure if you've been following this thread, but just go by what the 877 # tells you and disregard the rest. Once it changes from "back ordered" to "processing", expect a shipping update within the following 48HRS or so.
I have a feeling a few more of us in the 10/13 - 10/22 window will see some updates tomorrow, perhaps the day after.

I agree with you. While I'm happy that there's finally some movement on my order (backstory here: https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=20084201#post20084201) I am still upset with this whole ordeal, and I feel everyone's pain. AT&T or Apple (or both) really messed this pre-order up. They should have planned better to ensure a good experience for their customers.
I really hope everyone gets their phones soon.

Sorry this upset you, and I agree reading my post will not make a lot of people happy (esp those who have been waiting since pre-order day). I sincerely hope that everyone waiting for their preorders get their phones soon.
