So the week after launch I was up in the Chicago Michigan Ave store and I picked up a Gold 6+. The bottom right corner white stripes were filthy. And this was just from 7 days of strangers holding it with their grubby little hands. Sick. I thought about trying to wipe it clean to see if it was stained or not, but decided to go wash my hands instead.

This reminds of this one time after a party my walls were covered in dye shaped butts from...er perhaps thats a story for another time :p ;) :D Are the jeans tight though? I've seen this happen with really nice jeans even but it was on my wallet so I assumed it was just from a more extreme form of wear and tare....Side note: Glad my Space Grey iPhone 6 has the grey lines, they almost look a little blue!

Whoa, whoa..... I kinda want to hear this story! Lol.

I used to have an HTC ONE and it has similar bands and they most definitely dis colored because of jeans and over time. One of the reasons I went with 6+ in space gray.

yeah had the same problem. But after it broke down and got a new refurbished one, they obviously changed the materials on the phone to some smoother material and it stopped "catching colors"

EBOLA:eek:

wash your jeans!!!!!

all the chemicals in that dye...imagine what they're doing to your skin...

Bah, my chamfer on my phone looked great till the day I traded it in (Today actually).

That being said, I don't really care for the 6's looks anyways. The 5 was the prettiest of the iPhones imho.

Oh, and here's another vote for quit with the adding "gate" after everything. All it serves to do is make you look overdramatic and like a drama queen. Oh, and it also makes you look like you don't know history. One, gate doesn't mean contorversy or whatnot, watergate was just the name of the place where the original scandal took place. Also, the reason people keep using "gate" is because one journalist decided to use it for some other scandal to be "cute" and couldn't come up with anything new for any other things he covered so he kept using it. So it really is just a sign that you can't come up with anything creative to call something. And I really want to slap that journalist for ever starting this trend.

+1! Thank you for pointing this out. A lot of people do not know where the term originated from. I too am annoyed by this over use (abuse actually) of this term.

The word "gate" is in the article.

You missed her point.

The sides and back of my (silver) 5s go blue after having it in my jeans pocket of 1 particular pair I have! Possibly as they're relatively new, so maybe it'll stop happening once they've been washed more. The blue does seem to rub off from the phone fairly easily though!

I noticed this starting to happen with my iPhone a few days ago. I've been trying to clean it off, just a few minutes ago I was using a graffiti remover. Nothing has worked so far. I have insurance and AppleCare+ so I may just make a claim somehow, then case it.

I used to clean my MacBook palm rests (notorious for staining with the first-gen) with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it worked perfectly. You should try that on this.

Good plan.

Phones, TV remotes, keyboards and other objects touched by multiple people are common sources for disease transmissions, particularly viral diseases. Many people are unaware of or ignore this. Wash your hands after touching potentially contaminated objects or touching other people, e.g. shaking hands. Don't touch your hands to your face, mouth or eyes unless you have just washed hands. (from M.D.)

I've just used a very small amount of UPVC recover (not cleaner) and if I'm not seeing things it appears to work.

ruin(n) - the physical destruction or disintegration of something or the state of disintegrating or being destroyed.

Not exactly.

Magic Eraser may not be a bad suggestion. As a word of caution, I'd masking tape everything except the plastic band when doing it to make sure it doesn't damage the metal finish in any way. I'd probably also only test it on a small section of the plastic band at first to make sure it doesn't somehow make the problem worse.

I've already given a solution to this, UPVC restorer works. Put the smallest amount on a cloth, let it soak into the cloth a couple of seconds, then gently rub the area that has dye on it. Once you have done that with a clean cloth wipe away any excess UPVC restorer. UPVC is just plastic like the antenna bands.

Has anyone actually noticed this happening? I know the due can come out of jeans for a while but I've never had anything in my pockets stained.

Probably because all my pants pockets are lined, they aren't jean material.

Those things ARE magic. Amazing what they will clean.

Not on my phone, but happened a lot on certain phone cases. One pink one, for example, was badly stained by jeans.
