See, that's my point guys. We've seen charges right up to 04, but we have some 02's and 03's (and likely some 01's) that haven't moved yet.

We don't know how they're processing the changes in status - it could be as they're palletized, it could be as they're loaded on the plane in China, it's anyone's guess. The important thing is that we have a time as high as :04 - so everyone before that should take comfort that they're almost certainly going to be in this shipment. (and, I think it'll be the entire May 13-27 batch).

I'd love it if it's all of the backorders, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

unfortunately not... i called first direct (hsbc) although they can put a note on the account it's the fraud teams that decline and they don't necessarily check the notes.... think that's pretty standard. Would suggest keeping on it

Will definitely monitor it, but I let them know anyway, also have a 5K charge for summer vacation going through on Friday. My concern was mainly that it was shipping to an address other than the billing address. Had a problem with Bloomingdale's once at Xmas over that.

I'm at :02. I originally paid with Apple Pay, switched to a new device, reloaded card numbers into phone. I bank with Citibank. Card DECLINED today. I updated my order with the card number directly & called Citibank with authorization amount...noted account.
Any opinions or past experiences on how or if this will delay an apple order? How soon might they attempt charge once again? Thanks! :)

If I were you, I'd call Apple. As long as they're informed fairly quickly, you won't lose your order status.

Yeah, me either. I called, they told me everything looked exactly as it should from their end and is entirely on schedule and promised nothing is lost time wise by the reauth.

If you guys have been charged, then flipping to PFS is pretty much a given any time now. It often seems there's no rhyme or reason to the order they're done in.

The charge has appeared on my card!

This is good to hear! I hope I wasn't too late with the reauth and missing the first shipment. How long ago did you reauth?

It was an hour ago for me

I'm not arguing but how is it not? An order was placed electronically for a certain model and type. Simply charge them in order then assign that order a watch. I don't think they have a bunch of boxes with people's names on them and they are just grabbing the ones that are going out and scanning them.

There is a technical reason for this.

When you order you aren't logging in to a single server and adding your order to a nice neat list of orders. At this scale there are several dozen servers to which orders are divided up. Queuing tasks like those used to process orders accept a set number of objects to process and are themselves divided among several dozen servers. Say you have more web servers accepting orders than you have available slots on the processing servers, at some point even those ordered simultaneously will end up processed later.

This is all speculation, of course, and only one possible scenario and doesn't necessarily rule out failures in that chain of events, but there isn't a ton of variability when you have to operate at this scale.

I hear you. And I believe them and you, I largely expect it to be here tomorrow. Just waited too damn long to see the words.

3 hours ago. Within 10 mins of seeing the charge fraud-declined I had everything straightened out again.

I think we should have a sticky off of the main forum, telling people to call their banks to make sure the authorization goes through, when there's been such a long time between the pre-auth and their watch being shipped.

I'm :03 and 42 and my order is being charged. (I had to reauthorize after my bank declined it)

I'm afraid of that situation as well (bank declining). How did you proceed when you notice that your back denied your payment? Did you had to do something in the apple online store or something?

Yes. Call the number on your card and get that opened again. In some cases your whole card may be frozen until you do, not just that Apple purchase.

You can either call Apple back after that and have them reauthorize, or on your order status page there will be banner with red text above your order with a button to update payment options. The lightbox popup from there will let you either reauthorize the card on the order or enter a new method. When that's done it will tell you it's successful (hopefully...) and you'll get a confirmation email. That's it.

Ok thank you very much! I hope to don't have to pass through that situation!

Yes! :) It took about 1 hour for my reauthorization to charge me after declining. I bank with Citibank. I used the order status page to update my info (as I used Apple Pay initially, on a different (replaced) device, greater than 30 days ago). I called Citibank and Apple just to be safe. Wow, that all happened fast!

notification

Out of interest, does anyone know whether the shipping notification or preparing for shipping goes out when the watches are in the destination country or still when in China
