Was just browsing around the prices of Macbook Pros in New Zealand and came across this:

http://toshbuy.com/index.php?cPath=15

It says:

Apple will release new Macbook Pro models in a few days, and we will list the new models here immediately. We no longer sell the existing models. We can source them for you if you need, but we recommend you wait for the new units. Many other Apple sellers in New Zealand will have inventory left of the old models, and there is probably the opportunity for a bargain. If you do purchase the base unit elsewhere, we recommend you get the RAM, Extended Warranty, Software and drive upgrade from us, to save money.

Maybe they'll be announced at the Sept 9th event?
Edit: Nope, we'll have to be patient :) Hopefully this month still, or early next month.

Good find, but I assume the people who run the site are just making an informed decision and decided to be honest on their site......Thanks for posting though and boy would it be cool to see some new notebooks on tuesday,

Wow that would be so cool.

Isn't this kind of find 'front page material' here at macrumors?

How reliable is that source?

If it does comes out on 9th,... will be available for pre-order? Will I able to combined with free iPod deal?

Can't somebody send them a mail and act like someone who want to buy a new MPB but are confused with the information they give you, and ask them what exactly they mean with what they're saying!?

What is ToshComputer's return policy?

If it is 30-days, I can understand them preferring not to sell a current MacBook / MacBook Pro because it is likely they will ship within that time and they'll be absorbing a number of returns as people bring their "old" model back and exchange it for a "new" model.

I do believe there will be an event that launches the MB and MBP together, but I do not believe it will be the 9th.

If it does end up being the "One More Thing" on the 9th, that implies to me this update is going to be very mild (just a basic spec bump?) since Apple's invitation is emphasizing the iTunes / iPod angle. They would not launch new form factors, new models (Tablet) or new styles (colors or Al MacBook) as a "one more thing" of an iPod event.

Yup.

I'll post as soon as I get a reply

I keep forgetting to check the stock at work to see if the models have been discontinued in our system yet. Only two hours until work, so I'll try to remember.

Didn't apple tell retailers to order to fill for 3 weeks? ie; 3 weeks ago? I cant find the story.

And wasn't their a picture of what seemed to be the new macbook with a September 9th event advertised on it? Again I cant find this.

I'm still not expecting September 9th, would be cool though :).

By the way lets say -> IF there is a new macbook pro soon (around september - october) is it possible that Apple would "upgrade" this version in January @ Macworld?

So maybe its better to wait till January? Macworld = biggest Bang for Apple, isn't it?

I'm not sure how reliable this source is. Is it authroized Apple reseller?
And it is strange to see that they are selling a MBP w/ 500GB HDD and 3-year AppleCare - they probably upgraded HDD themselves since 500GB is not available from Apple, thus voiding AppleCare? Or am I just overthinking this?

There wouldn't be a reason to. This will be the last real update before the line transitions to Core i7 and that won't happen till about this time next year per Intel's roadmaps.

thanks!

I was headed to the Apple store on Saturday to buy a MBP. I guess I should wait a week or so at least.
