Anyone know about Best Buy's outlet store? I'm hoping that if there's a new release on Tuesday that they'll put the old models in the outlet like they have in the past.

Apple, release a new model so I can buy the current model! :D

I just hope they redesign them this time around. Recent rumor and speculation is starting to think otherwise...

Possibly, but remember...they are a store. Why would they want to stop me from buying a computer? Think about that...

Mainly I believe someone stated they have a 30 day return period. If that's so, that means that if someone bought it, and within the next 30 days (which is a month), there will be an update, and if they find out most likely they'll return it for a new one.

I'm so excited! ^^

so is this site legit?

Yes it is legit, I've personally bought my MBA from there hence I was on that site to begin with. I'm thinking of swapping to MBP for the extra power. Although the portability is extremely nice... I'm sure going to miss it.

That being said I think if the updated MBP is going to come out on Tuesday it is probably just going to be a small refresh, no case redesigns I dont think.

I believe it is because they got back to me real fast. I dont really see a reason for them NOT to be legit. Why would they try to scam me by saying "Wait until next week to buy a laptop"! LOL

Omg man! :D I love you! ^^ This is so great, the waiting will finally be over... :p

Well maybe, but I'm hoping for a major case redesign. :p

By the way just to let you guys know, they are not an authorised apple reseller. They get their Macs from the States and sell them in NZ, since Apple mark up the prices a lot in NZ :(

So their source would be most likely a U.S. source.

David Jones , a department store in Australia and an authorised apple re-seller currently has $150 off all Mac lines and the promotion ends this Sunday.

David Jones NEVER EVER discounts Macs

To me says END OF THE LINE !

They better update the design, at least to officially make the HDD a user replacable part. I also expect DisplayPort, new keyboard and DDR3 memory.

We can only hope. :p

This isn't on the front page because it doesn't mean anything.

Random resellers generally don't know exactly when Apple will be releasing new models. At least not any more than any of the rest of us.

If I hear anything else, I'll let you all know.

I hear you. Thanks. Keep us posted.

What a stunner...

... that a small little Mac seller in New Zealand can create such a stir.

Just to make sure people don't have coronaries over the weekend: Nowhere do we say that the new MB and MBP models will be released on the 9th. My understanding is that the 9th is the "Day of the iPod", and the laptop re-birth event will be later.

As to some of the other speculations:
1. No, we do not give a 30-day return policy and so it would be to our interest to sell as many 'old' Macbooks as possible - we just think that customers should be well informed before they plunk down a few thousand dollars. We sell a few hundred units each month, so not selling the current models is quite a loss to us - but I can sleep better each night.
2. Yes, we add 500Gig drives (5400rpm) or 320Gig (7200rpm) drives to Mac laptops as desired, and we have those installed by an Apple technician, so that the unit's warranty is not affected. On those drives, we give lifetime replacement warranties.
3. Yes, we have been told 3 weeks ago to order all MB and MBP stock we need through September, as there would be severe delivery constraints of the laptop models ranges.

Does this answer the various questions? Jens

Ok, thanks for clearing things up. I still hope there will be a Macbook / Macbook Pro update later this month though :)

I actually managed to get a couple of hours sleep after all the excitement last night , I awake to find ....it's almost probably all about iPods on Tuesday ......bummer !
I'm sick to the back teeth of iPods / iPhones , wish it was still Apple was still called Apple computers

Just out of curiosity, if you buy a new Mac & then a new version comes out...how long do you have to return it? Apple told me I have 7 days for price protection if the price drops...I've heard on here before there's a 14 day rtrn policy....true?

If so, from what day? I ordered mine online...is it that day? ....or the day I receive it? ...mine was shipped from China and, due to some delays w/ both Apple & UPS, I haven't received it yet.

This has been great publicity for that NZ site.
They sound like standup guys, esp Jens. I particularly like that lifetime warranty on the drive...better than Apple's. Be worth ordering it from them on that alone.

Hey Jens, if the drive does fail do you require the entire laptop to be shipped to NZ for repairs or would you ship the replacement drive overseas (if installed by an Apple accredited tech)?

Drive Upgrades

Good Gawd; no way we'd want the whole unit shipped all over the world. We air-ship nearly 500 drives each month to clients who want to upgrade their Macs, and we supply in 12 countries by airmail. Now, there is no need to buy drives from us to have them sent to the US, you can source those very easily locally. The newest 2.5" SATA drives are 500/5400 and 320/7200, and both seem very reliable. For 3.5" the largest is 1Tb still, for iMacs. When you check our prices, remember that these include the horrendous 12.5% GST/sales tax in New Zealand, and we do not have to charge that on sales overseas (that's why our Australian sales just about double each month...). When you upgrade, get a $20 or so external USB enclosure for the old drive, and voila, you end up with a back-up drive.

I think you caused the stir because you write that Apple will release new notebooks in a few days. A few days fits perfectly with the September 9th event. If they indeed release them at a later day, it could mean you don't sell any units for the whole month. I much appreciate your honesty though.
