As much as I despise the Rangers (hence anyone that plays on the Rangers) I'm compelled to say I hate that picture. But, since I am a hockey fan (hence fan of the best game on earth) I am also compelled to say that's a nice little piece of history.

So my Isles have a nice little 8 game point streak going right now (5-0-3 aka 13 pts). They seem to be getting hot a good time. I can only hope that they stay hot for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs (yea, I said it. Playoffs).

Abstract, are you a Canadian native?

Speaking of Canada, I feel that every hockey fan should see a hockey game in Canada. I saw the Isles play the Habs back in Oct 2005 in Montreal. Absolutely crazy. My friends and I got booed out of every bar we went in. (2 Islanders Fans and a defunct Hartford Whalers fan)

I totally feel you on that. I mean look at the Islanders. Garth Friggin Snow is the GM!!!!! I can only trust that Mr. Wang (and only Mr. Wang, I don't want Mad Mike Milbury to make an apperance) knows what he's doing. He seems to spend the money, but I question if it's being well spent.

What it all boils down to is that before I die I want to see just one Stanley Cup. As I was born 1 year after the Dynasty years.

Same feeling here in Boston. We haven't seen a Cup here since Orr put it in the net. There's been a revolving door in front of the B's locker room. Helps when you have an ownership that's committed to winning ;)

Was a different league then. They way they checked and played the game, they'd be thrown out of the game today. I long for the more physical game of Canadian hockey. The European style is not my bag. I like the keep your head up or get killed style of hockey that I grew up on. Plus like all sports nowadays the leagues are so watered down now with all the teams involved that it makes for a very boring mediocre game.

Smash mouth hockey, my absolute favorite. aka Original Canadian Hockey. Gotta pay omage to the country that started this sport.

I miss it too. The thing about it now is that all the sports are competing for market share and also increasing their fan bases. The problem with hockey now is that don't promote the game at all. This certainly doesn't help when we're on a two bit network like Versus. Now that the NHL changed the rules to increase scoring, they were hoping for increase in fans. Did they get it? It remains to be seen.

Also, it doesn't help that Americans are biased towards the game. I'm still trying to figure this out.

LONG LIVE HOCKEY! or L'HOCKEY EN VIE LONG! (For the people in Montreal)

All can say at this blissful moment, as I sit here after returning from the monthly caver's meeting, and then the unofficial after meeting meeting where some brews and all-you-can-eat excellent fish was partaken of, the Blues not only beat the Red Wings last night, but!!!! It was a shut-out!!! :D

Had to laugh at reading the quote from the Detroit coach "A blind dog finds a bone once in a while," Babcock said. "I mean, everything happens once in a while. Give them full credit. They worked hard. They had a game plan, they stuck to it." ;)

Now,,, if we can only beat Nashville.

Oh, this part was quite  : "The Red Wings were last shut out Jan. 7, 2004, in a 3-0 loss to Boston -- a string of 175 games. Calgary holds the NHL record for consecutive games without being shutout -- 264 from Nov. 12, 1981 to Jan. 9, 1985."

The Sabres don't really need anything...just keep on keepin' on.

Rumors of the Panthers sending Belfour and Bertuzzi heading to Buffalo for Biron, but I have mixed feelings about that. I love Marty and he's a terrific goaltender, so I want to see him stay in a Sabres uniform. But he really deserves to be a number one guy somewhere.

Yea the Sabres are just doing there thing. They should make it to the conference finals (like they did last year), maybe this time there'll be a different ending.

You're right about Biron. But if that trade does go through, at least you're getting another goalie in return.

WildCowboy, whenever I see that you post I immediately think it's not good. lol

That's the truest statement I've heard in a long time fotografica. I can't believe the Isles let that game against you guys slip away. So desperatly needed those 2 points.

It's amazing...sometimes the mods do even contribute to threads! :D

When I looked at the poster count for this thread, I saw you're name up there. I do remember that you posted here pre-mod status.

Hope the mod status is working out for ya. On that note, perhaps I'll see you in the playoffs. Knowing my luck we will and it will be first round.

Forsberg was traded to Nashville. ESPN

In other news, my Isles picked up 2 much needed points against the Bruins. Now sitting tied for 8th with the Canadiens & Leafs for the final playoff spot.
