Wonder what this update will break... 1.1.3 has been a bit dodgy (crappy reception + dropped calls).

Well it says it is just for bug fixes, and doesn't mention any new features.
So maybe it is just to patch up 1.1.3s problems.

iTunes 7.6.1 came out last week.

Hmm.. that's funny because I tried it yesturday and a couple of hours ago today and it said no new updates to iTunes.. (I hadn't known there was an update.) But it's only just suddenly said it along with the iPhone update.

I am kinda surprised this didn't get found earlier. I half expected it, but when I woke up and no one said anything about an iPhone update I figure it wasn't happening. Then I go to sync and BAM iPhone update. can't wait to see what it offers.
