Iphone/iPod touch update

My safari seems to be working faster and it now works in places around my house that it hadn't been working in before... coincidence? :D

I recently got a 32gb touch which had a screen with an ugly yellow tint to it compared to my previous 16gb. After the update the screen seems to look much better. I could just be fooling myself, but it seems to have been fixed.

By having rich Email in Japan you don't need SMS or MMS AT ALL, and everything that comes with Email is set-up for you and did I mention that it's FREE?

Seriously, MMS is nothing but milking the cash-cow, and for one, I am totally thankful that Apple doesn't jump on THAT wagon.

I can see that a majority that has been fooled into thinking that they need MMS will not accept the lack there-of. And that's the saddest part of the story.

Anyway, whatever.

I would be happy if I could send more than one picture at a time via email on the iPhone. Plus I think it would be nice if AT&T allowed you to link an email address to your phone number and have all MMS's automatically forwarded to that address. That way other people don't have to think about anything at all. Very Apple like. Oh and what email service sends pictures inline? I could have sworn gmail does it, but sometimes that isn't the case.
Plus maybe the iPhone should shrink the picture size to an MMS friendly size but also send a link to say maybe a .Mac gallery so people can view the full size pic.

Well I didn't know that.

Still doesn't change the fact that people use Flash and glitz to cover over a lack of decent interesting content.

I just don't see the point in bypassing HTML, etc, which all web browsers support, and implementing something in Flash that many people block, and whole sections on the internet can't view. I can understand using it for certain things where it is very smart, interactive graphs, games, product stuff. Imagine the BBC News website written in flash though.

Designers think Flash is the be all and end all though, and they will never get why some people hate it.

I personally don't feel that flash is necessary though it is a nice way to add a little bit of movement to your site. My website for my artwork is done almost entirely in flash if for no other reason then I like the fact that I can do interesting things with the navigation and you can, no doubt, do similar things using html but I prefer the way flash works.

You can deny all you want that flash is unnecessary but the point is that however necessary or unnecessary it is, flash has become a major force in web design and the lack of flash support on the iPhone means that there are a great many websites that we can't get the full user experience from.

Am I pissed off about the iPhone not supporting flash? Not really, just because it handles everything else on the web so magnificently. It would just be a nice addition to have it there. I see flash support as similar to the multiple text messages pre-1.1.3. Its a minor annoyance that it isnt there, but in the long run, I can live without it. I would love to see it added, but I'm not going to get all butt-hurt that it hasn't been dealt with yet. I think we all have to remember that when we bought our iPhones, we were the first generation of users. Apple hasn't had the time to reinvent the product or generations of use to fine tune it into the perfect machine. I think the updates they have made and the updates they plan to make are more then we would see from any other manufacturer and we should be happy that we are all dealing with a company that is constantly trying to improve upon a product instead of just waiting til the iPhone 2.0 comes out.

And for those of you wondering why those of us who arent programmers are excited about the SDK, it is rather simple. We haven't jailbroken our phones, messed around where we don't belong, or violated the Terms of Use. We have patiently waited for Apple to release this thing while we watched friends and family load up their phones with fun software and games and now that the time is closing in that we can legally add some of this functionality to our phones, we are a bit giddy at the idea.

lame

i installed the new update, and it froze my phone during the installation period. i had to unplug the phone, restart my computer and then restore my iphone before it would work again. this whole process took about an hour...beware of the new update...

Long shot

Maybe StarBucks is closing to make wireless available for free for all iPhone customers and they need to make some changes and test it.

Not likely but a possibility.
Maybe just some meeting or new products at StartBucks.

my install breezed through

You had an issue, many other people did not have the same problem. Doesn't make the experience less troubling for you, but doesn't necessarily warrant a general warning to the public at large about this particular update. Were you doing anything with iTunes, etc during your update? Just asking because there may be something from your experience that contributed to your difficulties that can be shared to possibly help someone else avoid the same frustrations. Hope you're not experiencing any issues post installation, though . . . that's never cool.

Just drove by the local starbucks...i'm very sad to report nothing exciting looked like it was happening...a bunch of employees talking behind the counter :/

ihpone feature

ok one thing this iphone needs that iv seen no one post is the fact that u can only text message with the keyboard vertically....i don't no about you but when i go on safari and i turn my screen to type horizontally it seems to be a lot easier...that would by far be my favorite iphone feature to ever come out

i cant wait to put flashlight on my phone to :D
