Just woke to an email informing me my credit card has been charged for my 1.3 space grey 256mb MacBook. My original ship date was May8-15. Here is to hoping shipping information is coming shortly!!

My CC was charged on 4/12 but it could have been that I also ordered the USB-C AV adapter on the same order which I already received. Also, I don't know if it matters, but I used a gift card to cover part of the purchase

Mine was also charged, but I think BTO's are charged before they ship (when they start production).
Yup, this is true. Mine also got charged (USA) so maybe we'll see these things shipping out next week. It would definitely be a pleasant surprise.

I think that usually they bill the credit card just before they ship, but obviously that's not the case since I was billed on 4/12 and my order status hasn't changed.

I would wager that assembly of components, qa, and packaging and shipment prep takes less than a day for this computer. So it's really just a technicality, these babies are shipping very soon!
Mine says late May or June. I find it hard to believe it's suddenly going to be shipping soon. I also can't believe it's the actual charge, Apple never does the real charge until shipping. What I've seen in the past is they pre-charge to make sure the credit is valid, then that charge goes away in a few days. Then they make the final actual charge when the unit ships.
Mine is appearing in the pending charges. Looks like the real charge to me. I'll post back in a few days if it turns out not to be.
