Thanks. I feel the same. There is definite camaraderie round these parts (apart from the odd troll). :)

When I saw the pending charge on my cc two days ago I started to hope that they may have shipped by today, but sadly not.

It's difficult to believe that it's only been two weeks since we placed our orders. It seems like an eternity! I suppose we need to keep in mind that the later of our two original delivery dates was mid-May.

Nothing wrong with the British Pound. Apple certainly doesn't turn its nose up at our currency. :)
 
My credit card also got charged:

I'm writing from Germany. Looks like Europe delivery starts.
 
Mine went to preparing for shipment (and CC billed) about 12 hours ago. New Zealand order, placed about 25 minutes after launch. ETA was originally 6th-13th May, now is 30th April! So up to a full two weeks earlier than first shipment date... Maxed out SG.

Update: already on the plane out of Pudong...
 
1.3 512gb gold macbook

My bank shows a preauthorization from Apple today for my 1.3 GHz 512gb gold MacBook. I ordered shortly after online store opened and got my confirmation email at 3:07 am EST. my Apple order still shows processing order but I believe that will change to preparing for shipment by tomorrow.

Finally! I ordered the same configuration you did, and my confirmation arrived at 12:10 am PDT. This is the first I've seen of a BTO gold moving through the pipeline! Here's hoping we seen shipment soon.

My card was pre-auth'ed, too! Won't be long now. I'm in the U.S.
 
For clarity:

Pre-authorization is what Apple does when you pre-order your device. You are not actually charged but the money is blocked from your charge limit. Pre-authorizations last 10 days and then the block is released.

Authorization or Charge is what they do when they want to ship you the goods. Its the actual payment and will appear as a charge on your statement.

And my status was just changed to Preparing for Shipment. LOL!

Apple account now says preparing for shipment. 1.3 GHz 512 gb gold MacBook.

Ship date unchanged

Mine still says available to ship 3 to 4 weeks. Delivery May 8 to May 15. If it is coming from China it will probably be around the 8th when I get it. Hopefully sooner though.
 
Shipped!

I received my shipment notification, yay! The notification (standard shipping) from Apple says delivers May 6 but the FedEx tracking says the 5th so not too much longer.
 
My credit card has only been charged the $13.81 expedited shipping fee today. But the status of my order has not changed. It still says "processing".

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for Apple to ship the laptop after they charge you for shipping?
