$1,490 in and I'm happy as a clam...

I love how everyone twists the OP's comments and turns into how much money he makes and what his job is....when all he is trying to do is show us how he got his ipad....makes me think that most of the macrumors crowd are a bunch of high schoolers....are you asking him what he does so you have an ambition in life? Who cares....Too bad the majority of this forum is filled with people who are jealous of what everyone can afford to do vs. what everyone wants to do.....

Wow, what a self-serving, pointless thread. Are we supposed to be impressed? This is not a lot of money to anybody with employment.

You should have spent another $15 on a metal garbage can to put over your head.. for you to just talk about how much in love you are with yourself.

Also, it's hilarious that he's convinced this unlimited data will last until the end of time.

Obviously, one wouldn't flaunt the amount spent on a particular item (or bundle in this case) in the title of the post without some sincere regard for their status in life. Later, the OP goes on to mention it was paid in cash.

Not bashing OP in any way, just saying there is a little sense of pride in the post. In other words, how much money he makes and what kind of job he has was insinuated early in the discussion.

I think the investment decision, based on a business perspective, was very poor, but to each his own. Buying a card that could go from $400 to $0 in a matter of days at the discretion of a multi-billion dollar revenue corporation is a little ridiculous.

That train of thought would be valid had he not disclosed the dollar amount of his purchases. The dollar amounts are not in any way relevant to how he secured the items.

The dollar amounts and the fact that he alludes to a well-paying career then states that he will not disclose his profession are both indications to me, and it would appear others, that this thread serves only to stroke his ego and show off his supposed wealth and/ or status.

Money can buy a lot of things; one of the few things it cannot buy however is class.

If you can afford an iPad in the first place, $100 extra isn't much of a premium, but The OP's thread title does lead you to believe he paid $1490 for an iPad 2. I am baffled by the $400 unlimited data sim. Do people really use more than 2GB so often that they would be willing to pay that much for it up front?

Actually, I find this post to be more about how he didn't overpay to much on his products. I feel the OP is trying to bring hope to those who are fearing they can not obtain the mystical unicorn. I only feel the SIM was over priced. But to each his own. Using the OP's logic the unlimited is nice. But to me it will take a year and a half to pay break even, to me this is to much uncertainty to make it worth while. His iPad was decent considering the current scalping rate. BTW 1490 = MacBook Pro 13"

To me, the dollar amounts indicated that he didn't get the items from a retailer, and for how much over retail some people are selling them. Also, he referenced his career only after someone asked him about it directly, at which point he declined to discuss it further.

On topic, the thread, for me, served to illustrate another means of getting a hard-to-find item, and what it took him to do so--nothing more, nothing less. It was interesting enough that I'm glad that he posted.

Glad to see you chime in acting like 1500$ is the average amount you can toss around every month. Most americans make less than 2000$ a month. Average bills are around 1000$ and average food is around 500. So that leaves you at what 500$ to toss around? Before you start +1'ing crap how about you think a little bit. I spent 2k on iPad 2's this month. I don't even work. This is money coming from my GI Bill from serving my time in the army. The poster is obviously not bragging about what they spent, but is proud they got it.

Congratulations bud on your purchase. Enjoy it.... For others please don't hate, he could afford it he bought it..i see people online buy the ipad alone for 1300-1400$'s .
 
Envious of invisible shield!

I ordered one from their site last week and it hasn't even shipped yet! I'm in the UK so can't buy it in store yet.

I also ordered an SGP crystal protector and a BSE total cover pack (because I was fed up waiting for the IS).

I also bought a cheap pack of screen protectors and they are actually decent. Can't even see it - makes me wonder if the SGP protector was even worth buying!

In the meantime I had to cut up an old IS iPad 1 into about 30 pieces to cover the back of my iPad 2 until I get one that fits!
