Ok Sister Olephant is gonna explain it all for you,
ATT iPad Unlimited Data Plan, --besides Steve Jobs hype/touting/pitching this plan a year ago as groundbreaking, I guess something did break, cause 4-5 weeks after that, it was gone as an option for new magical iPad buyers.
This is not like a common cell phone plan with a contract. This is a PREPAID monthly plan, that is tied not to an individual contract, as much as it is tied to a never ending automatic monthly prepayment agreement. Just keep the PRE-payments coming and the chip has been happy to flow to now.
It is fully and easily transferred from iPad to iPad and to iPad2. The latest twist is trasferring it to 3rd parties for their ATT iPads. The only rule you can't break is the PRE-PAYMENT. Miss a payment and the plan goes away like iPad2 3Gs to Slovenia.
ATT told me today, ah ha, that there is even a 7 day sweet grace period if your CC expires etc. That's generous considering. We're talking ATT here, but they did get fatter off the sweet Apple so maybe it's pay back.
I was PO'd when the new amazing plan was abruptly dropped a year ago, also, originally you could 'stop and go' the Unlimited plan just like the other iPad plans, but that was ended at the same time. No stopping now.
I have this plan now for 10 months, but I think it's time to generously share it with some poor capped-tive soul out there.
Overall an ATT&APPle failure, to 'sell' an Unlimited plan for this new 'Post PC.. data consumption device and then say, you bought it, now we take away.
