After buying the new iPad, I can no longer stand looking at any non-retina screen. That's how good the new iPad's screen is.
does anyone think it could have been way better if they had packed as many pixel as that of the iphone?
they say we wont put our ipad close to our face, but last night i wanted to read closer, and i noticed the fonts fuzzy.. am i asking for too much? lol.
I know I was just singing praises about the new iPad, and it's true that I still love the device, but I have to also admit it's not something I necessarily need.
After a week's use, I'm realizing more and more that it's an expensive luxury device, making life slightly more convenient to browse and check email (as in, easier to do so on my bed, for example, or easier to carry to school). The retina display and battery life and ease of carrying it are all incredible, I truly love those features. But again, are they mere luxuries over what a laptop can also do (and in some areas, the laptop trumps the iPad; typing, for example)?
It's a heavy price tag, the iPad, and we all value money differently, so I'm aware no one can answer that but me; just saying.
I sure love it though.
If you want to keep liking your iPad 2, DON'T BUY AND USE THE NEW IPAD!
I repeat, don't do it!
I still have my iPad 2, and yesterday I tried to use it all day to see if I can still justify the new iPad 3 after one week. Well....I sure as hell can! The biggest improvement is the screen. I read a lot for school and pleasure, and the iPad 2 screen is now very hard to read on for long periods of time.
Once you go retina, everything else is a blur![]()
It is a little over a half millimeter thicker. Anyone who says they notice the difference in thickness is imagining things. I would believe someone a little more if they said they noticed the weight difference, but it's really not a big deal.
Buy confidently. It's a terrific tablet.
Do you also own the iPad 2? if so apart from faster internet how the new iPad compares to the iPad 2? Is it worth the upgrade for someone who already owns the iPad 2?

Apple seems to think people only buy/download one app at a time... ALWAYS.
There is no logic behind this, and it's infuriating.

That's got to be some kind of iOS/app bug (or maybe a poor design decision). Done correctly, the images shouldn't be any worse than the iPad2 display, assuming that they're shown at the same size (that is, the size that you see, as measured by a ruler in your hand).New screen is just incredible.
Too good infact, I downloaded some magazines that haven't been updated for the new display and couldn't believe how bad they look. The text looked awful.
I think the screen gets more impressive with time. When you first buy it and are looking for a huge upgrade with all the hype around it some may be disappointed, but the more apps I see in their updated form and the more I go back and forth between this screen and my other electronics the more I appreciate it.
I love it. My 2011 13" Air is being sold, if I need a laptop for light word processing at college (if I go to college this year) then I will buy a cheap laptop to do that. I don't need a $1100 laptop when the iPad is what gets used for 99.9% of tasks. Perhaps my iPad will suffice for the word processing.
Haven't turned my Air on in 4 weeks, and that was before I got my iPad. I just usually use my desktop at home. I don't even consider the 13" Air very portable, yeah it's light for a laptop but it's still annoying to use in a car, on a train or of course, on a plane. Laptop lids suck.
