So no ned to reinstall. Have you done the SMC / PRAM resets ?

Yah, the update was done I guess on top of the default Sierra install. I did the SMC reset multiple times but there's no way of knowing if it has been done since there's no led indication. I will do a PRAM reset today along with another SMC and see what happens.

Do you have anything attached to your mac that could explain your diminished battery life (external monitor, external harddrive...)? Do you have your screen brightness over 75% (~12 clicks)? Did you only set up the mac recently and might it still be indexing or optimizing things?
If none of the above are true for you I would try to look for other explanations - but I think these are the most common causes of increased battery drain.

I set up the mac yesterday but spotlight indexing should be over. Brightness is usually 50% or less and I have no external devices plugged in.

When I tried resetting NVRAM by pressing command+P+R, after 30+ seconds, the system went into disk utilities and lists reinstall and a few other options. I chose to restart the laptop. Does this mean the NVRAM reset was successful?

I don't want to ruin your day guys... But this is what I am getting now 13:24 on full charge...
Brightness auto ca. 50%, BT, WIFI (5GHz), dropbox, mail.app, safari, bear, preview (huge pdf open).

BTW: System is 6 years old - I was migrating since OSX Lion . Too lazy for clean install.

(text bold added with Touchbar! Small thing but makes me happy)

Finder Finder, Today at 16.29.28.png

My battery is awesome. Just got yesterday and still at 47 percent after running for nearly 6 hours fully charged. No complaints here. It only lost 3 percent shut overnight. Been watching wattage in bar with coconut battery and very low.

Note: I am on 15".

Yes "standard" Touchbar BTO MBPr 13" (16 GB + SSD 512 GB). Not only on first charge I always keep laptops connected until it is fully full :p. After system will show you 100% - charger is still trickle charging for at least 30-40 min.

Ok it is official. New update 10.12.2 fixed my battery I am up back to 9-10 hrs of regular use. Before update idle power consumption was not going lower than 6W, after 10.12.2 it is now < 4W (60% brightness, ALS on).

With ~50Wh battery, it translates easily way over 10 hrs (if you are not doing much apart from safari). To get 10 hrs MacBook must average 5W (second attachment) - I get 5.3 Watts Safari browsing, mail, Fantastical2, Bear, Snappy and more apps in background.

HOW ABOUT YOU?
Mine as well. I know they didn't specifically address the battery in the update, officially. However, other improvements and efficiencies in the OS may be contributing. I did a wipe and clean install of 10.12.2 from a USB drive. BEFORE I was getting 3-6 hours. Now I get about 7-10. I see an average of about 10% battery reduction per hour under ideal conditions....that's 10 hours. In actual use, I see that 7-8 which is fine for me and realistic I think.

I use Battery Logger from the App Store to measure. It records actual use vs. sleep and gives great stats. I don't pay attention to the time remaining the activity monitor at all.
