Out of interest, wired keyboard or BT?

BT, I only click my touchpad once and it takes roughly 7secs to wake .

Not really a big issue for me personally but weird why its changed from more or less instant wake.

I went to the app store and re-installed High Sierra and now my 5K iMac wakes promptly from sleep again.
[doublepost=1531932019][/doublepost]Oops, now I see that the App Store installed 10.13.5 and not the .6 update. Now I'm trying the combo update.

Since upgrading to 10.13.6 I have the same problem, with all prior versions, when waking my iMac up, the screen was switched on instantaneously. After upgrading to 10.13.6 it takes up to 10s until the screen is on, very annoying.

I have an external thunderbolt drive connected to my iMac. The light of the drive turns on immediately after hitting a key on the keyboard, only the screen takes much longer. I have the suspicion, that the Mac waits until the external drive is at full speed and ready, but that might just be a coincidence.

+1 here too... Late 2012 iMac w/ Fusion drive. Not the end of the world but annoying when you're used to the system being instantly responsive. It's like my iMac needs to ask permission that it's okay to wake-up... "Hey, this dude wants me to wake-up to check Twitter again. What do you think? Should I do it? Maybe? Maybe not? Geez I don't know... okay I'll wake up."

Well I tried the power button method others have, and lo and behold instant wake! Makes me wonder whether this is a deliberate change by Apple.

Hi

Prior to 10.13.6, I could wake from sleep almost instantly, since 10.13.6, it takes about 7-10 secs to wake.

I thought it might just be the new update sorting things out in the background at first but not noticed it before with past updates.

iMac late 2013 with SSD.

Anyone else noticed slow wake?

Thanks
Me too ! Very annoying

Same issue here... used to wake instantly, now irritatingly slow to respond, and only upon updating to 10.13.6. I have a 2011 iMac.

Yes same issue. 2015 MacPro with SSD

Same here! - Since latest updated. Late 2012 iMac SSD with wired keyboard. It's really annoying when you want to do something quickly.

I went to the App Store and re-installed High Sierra. It gave me 10.13.5, and now the wake-from-sleep delay is gone. I tried the Safe Boot method but that didn't alleviate the problem. The delay is sometimes as long as 30 seconds. I guess I'll just stay here one lap down for a while.

I'm at 10.13.5, and the App Store tells me no updates are available.

Yes. It's annoying. It's slow enough that I think the system has shut down instead of sleeping.

Same problem here, on three Macs from 2011 each. Booting into safe mode did not help.

Same here – longer wake from sleep after the 10.13.6 update on a MacPro5,1 with a SSD and wired Apple keyboard.

But it feels like it's only the display that takes a long time (is delayed) to turn on. Or?

Haven't tried waking up by pressing the power button, so not sure if that makes a difference for me (not at the computer right now).

Edit:
Tried waking using the powerbutton – big difference (i.e. much faster).

Wow, seems like it is a .6 thing. BT keyboard and Fusion drive, so I thought it was just mine. FWIW, if you have not upgraded to 10.13.6, you might want to see how this goes. The first couple of times I thought my iMac was off it was that slow.

Same issue for me. 2012 iMac with Fusion drive and Bluetooth keyboard. Apple’s power management, and software testing is getting awful.

Yes, I have this. It causes difficulties when starting Apple TV as well. ATV now comes up with an error message before computer wakens up.

Oh I wish I could have this problem. I had to disable wake on network access with High Sierra. My iPad and iPhone would cause my iMac to wake up excessively. I mean like every ten minutes or even just a few seconds after going to sleep. I thought maybe I’d re-enable it to see if they fixed it, but this new power issue makes me realize they just can’t write reliable software anymore.

I’m really thinking it’s to the point where once I find my iMac works properly again I should never update it again. That is sad.

Damn! What is it with 10.13? Even as Mojave is working so well for so many people, Apple had to drop another turd in the (at this point - hopefully??) final "release" of High Sierra.

Are there any upsides to 10.13.6??

Same situation here on a mac pro mid 2012. From instantly on on 10.13.5 to about 10 sec now on 10.13.6. Annoying. Havent found a solution yet, after searching.
