same - mid 2015 Retina Macbook Pro, hardwired keyboard. I waited 20+sec... nada, finally hard-shutdown, rebooted. This was my first time after 10.13.6 install. It's been out a month Apple...

Surprisingly, I don't experience "slow to wake from sleep" issue.

I don't see it on a 13" MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) either. But that computer isn't used with an external display and keyboard either (if that's got anything to do with it).

Hi

Prior to 10.13.6, I could wake from sleep almost instantly, since 10.13.6, it takes about 7-10 secs to wake.

I thought it might just be the new update sorting things out in the background at first but not noticed it before with past updates.

iMac late 2013 with SSD.

Anyone else noticed slow wake?

Thanks
Yes my Mid 2011 Mac mini is terrible slow at waking up now

Same issue with 2011 iMac (with an SSD). Takes ages, over a minute even. A good bit faster with the power button OK.

I've also noticed it occasionally wakes back up from sleep by itself...i.e. right after put to sleep. Wake for network and bluetooth wake are off.

Clean install of 10.13.6; downloaded from App Store from said iMac (via 10.11.6).

Interesting thing is: I tried Safe Mode, and it woke from sleep instantaneously there, even via keyboard. No affect after booting back to "normal mode", however.
[doublepost=1535588995][/doublepost]Ah, so I figured out what was causing it in my case. Login Items: UAD Meter Launcher. By removing that from login items it's waking from sleep fine (after reboot).

I double checked by reinstalling UAD software (this Login Item is added there by default) and same sleep thing again. Removed from login, reboot, wake from sleep in 2/3 seconds.

Definitely UAD Meter & Control Panel that's causing slow wake/crash from sleep in my case...the UAD menu bar utility and Console seem to be OK.

An evening of sleep/wake...aren't computers great!

If anyone else is having waking from sleep issues it's worth trying booting to Safe Mode and seeing if it sleeps/wakes OK there...that was the clue for me that it's a driver thing...not to say Apple haven't ****ed something up with Thunderbolt of course; I noticed a few other users having similar problems with 2011 iMacs mentioned Thunderbolt drives etc....

Sierra was faster i think

I noticed the difference in High Sierra as well.... This is on a clean install.

Just tested Sleep/Wake from "Safe Boot"... There is a difference how fast it wakes.

10.13.6 on my late 2013 takes 25 - 35secs to wake from sleep.

EDIT - A right mouse click anywhere on screen wakes immediately.

I would investigate whether the new OS has reset from Suspend (sleep only) to Hibernate (writes to HD and restore).
+++++++++++++++
We need the next OS instead of new phone or new watch to fix all that is wrong with High Sierra...notification, crashing apps etc....That would make me happy...I don't need a new phone...I have a Phone...I need the next OS......my mac mini does not like to wake up either...but the emphasis is buy, buy, buy, hurry, hurry, hurry.

I updated my late 2015 5K iMac to Mojave, and that has cured the slow-wake-from-sleep problem.

I wonder if apple is done updating 10.13 and we are stuck with the 30 seconds wake from sleep issue. It really still annoy me, but at least fortunately my Mac Pro is no longer compatible with the new OS, so until it dies, there will be no more updating, also on programs, apps and plugs. Just want this issue gone now.

I fear Apple will never update High Sierra again. So, we have to solve these issue ourselves.

I could see that by removing outdated control panel items, startup items, launch daemons and launch agents, did speed exit from sleep considerably. It is not as fast as with Sierra, but now it is a few seconds, against 20-30 seconds before cleaning.

I'm afraid they are. Apple *always* seeks to lock us in to their latest OS, and if they could make it impossible for us to revert back to an earlier version of macOS - as they have done with iOS - they would do so immediately.

Hmmm don't they provide security and other major bug updates for a few years after every MacOS update?

Yea, so they can point to it and exclaim "See, we care about you."

At any rate, does anyone know where the hell I can download 10.13.6?? I downloaded it from the Mac App Store once or twice, but it's NOT in my Purchased section, nor am I able to find it doing a search.

Thanks!

Same problem here, upgraded last weekend from 10.12.6 to 10.13.6. Upgrade went fine, i barely notice any difference. However booting from sleep (with bluetooth keyboard and external display) now takes almost 10 seconds. Booting to safe mode didn't help. Macbook Pro 13" 2011 with crucial mx300 ssd. Any thoughts?

Edit: if I press a key on the macbook keyboard itself or the power button it wakes instantly, but when I wake it with the bt keyboard or USB connect mouse it takes up to 10 seconds. Really weird.

Outrageous. It's almost as if Apple does this on purpose, so as to hopefully cause you to upgrade to Mojave.

Speaking of, you just now upgraded to High Sierra when Mojave's been out for several months? How come? Any concerns with 10.14 you'd like to share?

After all this time of wanting to upgrade to *something*, I remain on 10.12.6.

Thanks.

Good question! My macbook doesn't support Mojave and I don't feel much for going the unsupported route with my primary machine. I didn't upgrade to HS earlier because of all the bugs in the previous releases last year. My original plan was to stay on 10.12.6 as well until fall and then upgrade to HS but maybe like you I felt the need of updating to something. So I took the plunge and must say besides this issue the difference between 13.6 and 12.6 is barely noticeable; performance is about the same, safari feels a bit snappier (which was my main reason to update to HS) but I can't say if APFS really improves performance. I didn't regret updating and won't downgrade for this issue alone but on the other hand there isn't much more in HS so I think it's perfectly fine to stay on LS as long as it's supported.

Edit: my dad's 2014 mac mini in which I installed an ssd few months ago and installed Mojave on has the same issue as well. Never had a problem on El Cap with it.
