Update: I isolated the issue, it only occurs when my external hard drive (WD Elements) is connected to my macbook. When it's not my macbook almost instantly wakes from sleep.

Oh my. I have external drives connected, and they are all mostly WD models. I'll try to see what happens with them disconnected.

Aren't these drives directly managed by the OS? I removed all WD software from my Mac long ago.

Same issue with 2011 iMac (with an SSD). Takes ages, over a minute even. A good bit faster with the power button OK.

I've also noticed it occasionally wakes back up from sleep by itself...i.e. right after put to sleep. Wake for network and bluetooth wake are off.

Clean install of 10.13.6; downloaded from App Store from said iMac (via 10.11.6).

Interesting thing is: I tried Safe Mode, and it woke from sleep instantaneously there, even via keyboard. No affect after booting back to "normal mode", however.
[doublepost=1535588995][/doublepost]Ah, so I figured out what was causing it in my case. Login Items: UAD Meter Launcher. By removing that from login items it's waking from sleep fine (after reboot).

I double checked by reinstalling UAD software (this Login Item is added there by default) and same sleep thing again. Removed from login, reboot, wake from sleep in 2/3 seconds.

Did this fix your sleep/wake issue - is it still 2 or 3 seconds?

Thanks

Good catch.
Doesn't help me though because I'm running HS off an external WD SSD. I'll just have to hit the power button if I want instant on.

Went with 10.12 instead...suited the 2011 iMac it seemed for a few other reasons (none of which I can remember).

My slow startup (mid-2010 Mac Pro with 10.13.6) was definitely related to waiting for the (in my case internal) HDD to spin up -- it was only slow when the computer had been asleep long enough for the drives to power down, and I could clearly hear the click-whirrrrr while waiting for my login prompt. So I thought I was real clever by installing a shiny new SSD and moving the entire OS to it as my new startup drive. Welp, if it helped at all it's barely perceptible. The original HDD is just document storage now, but I still have to sit there and listen to it spinning up before I get to the login screen. Wish I knew what it's trying to do...

Sorry for “hi-jacking” this thread, but I’m in desperate need of 2 files from 10.13.6
Anyone with this version?
I need these two files, both located under your main HD, then System/Library/Extensions:
IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext
AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext

I applied a patch to fix my MacBookPro mid2010 and I didn’t save those files as a backup, now the computer is acting weird and I want to go back to the original version of those files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks!!!
